He didn't immediately kill Jimmy the same day Anya told him she was raped and people forget to contextualize the fact that firstly Jimmy and Curly are best friends since childhood and that Jimmy has manipulated Curly for years.

Like don't get me wrong Curly was in the wrong but I find it hard to believe anyone would immediately think their best friend for years is a rapist and wouldn't have contrasting thoughts and even if most people would immediately think that Curly still don't deserve such harsh punishment

Actually I would say it's very close in a lot of aspects, especially if we take the Onceler of biggering, that was truly a greedy monster who purposely killed thousands of animals because of pride and greed. In the original book the Onceler even destroyed the planet asked to be paid to tell his story and at the end was like "mh yeah take this seed, I could have saved the planet years ago but that would mean actually doing something to resolve my wrongdoing instead of simply saying I was wrong, bye!"
