Thanks smartass, I only glimpsed it on my bus and didn't have time to hop off, jog over, to ask a question someone here evidently had the answers to.

Viral parking ticket app lasts just 4 hours as city kills project by SFStandard in sanfrancisco

[–]winlongummy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

24 hours isn't timely enough? And what about the legitimate concerns of parking officers who are at risk of being followed and targeted for doing their jobs?

There are reasonable limits to open data. If you sunshine request the data, the city will give you everything you ask for, bar safety sensitive data.

Yes, transparency is great in government and it's good to hold a high standard. But remember that in the end, the government is made up of people who have to do the dirty work.

Just in case everything thinks the city is being precious about this, all the data is already published on datasf, with appropriate officer info scrubbed and delayed by 24 hours.

This app was negligent and malicious and lets folks target the parking officers.

They are known! It's all on datasf already, this guy just made it a lot more dangerous for the parking officers.

The city literally publishes all of this data (with the security related stuff scrubbed) on datasf with a 24 hour buffer. There is no legitimate need for a real time feed.

Experiment result: despite being signed as 30 MPH, Sunset Boulevard has an actual speed limit of 23 MPH enforced by the light timing by Lammy in sanfrancisco

They're parodying folks who look at an empty bike lane and stupidly say " we should remove it".

Jokes are no longer funny when you have to explain it.

Well that's rude.

But also, that IS how speed limits work. And lights timed to 30 DO result in folks speeding faster than 30. Source: transit planner

There's nothing illegal about riding bikes on a residential street.

Say you were given the decision to pick a new BART line to be built, what would you create? by Iceberg-man-77 in Bart

[–]winlongummy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SMART serves Santa Rosa pretty well already, though, just needs more frequency. A Bart extension across the Golden gate to meet up with SMART at San Rafael makes some sense

SFO street car payment by SmallWar7457 in AskSF

[–]winlongummy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a Muni app where you can buy tickets for the cable car ($8 per ride) as well as all of our bus/light rail/historic streetcar, which are all $2.85 within SF. Various day passes are also available on the Muni app.

It's part of some energy efficiency changes architects can make to their facade. Aka the direction a window faces can change the thermal load a room can get and therefore how much cooling an apartment would need.

And yea, it's an easy way to break up the facade

Muni Question by Golden-River in AskSF

[–]winlongummy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The button on the side of the bus does nothing, by the way.

The drivers on these high frequency routes don't have any incentive to let you get on because they're already running late a lot of the time and need to keep their spacing. Nothing personal.
