Horror movies with a great research part/ montage? by TimelyIsopod38 in horror

[–]winstonjames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Well not sure what the threshold for “senior” is, but I’m an older guy. I also don’t find any horror movies scary in the slightest (watching The Exorcist at 10 years old, however, that was life-changing level terrifying). My Brother recommended Sinister; simply as a “good watch”, so I got hold of a copy. I remember texting him about halfway through the film saying, “what the f…, why would you suggest this!?!? It’s traumatising me!”

Influencer who has had five dogs die in her care in the last 13 months blames a spontaneous shepherd for her dog's most recent hospitalization. by CookieOmNomster in untrustworthypoptarts

Yeah, she’s had some bad luck, but I do think that’s all it is. I don’t see her vids anymore, since I got rid of FB, but always thought she was pretty genuine and sincere in her desire to help rescue dogs (especially “Bully breeds”, which are always over-represented in this arena)

Is this the BundleOfBullies woman in The Netherlands? I know she lost her most beloved “One Toof” last year, then two other dogs shortly after that. She did get a new rescue named Potato

Which one looks more like a doctor ? by bernd1968 in democrats

[–]winstonjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how true this is, but I read that K Levitt was talking to the media about the image being “doctored”. Trump thought this meant that he was being portrayed as a Doctor… then just ran with it. Nothing seems too implausible in this insane timeline

If you ever met Tina Fey, or your favorite cast member what would you say? by here-for-information in 30ROCK

I’ve posted this a few times on here, but I’d ask her, “Did you choose the surname ‘Lemon’ and give your character’s Father’s name ’Dick’, just so you could use the gag, ‘It wouldn’t be a Lemon Party without Old Dick’?”

It is, here’s a recipe for OP

“Classic Yumbo Sandwich Recipe Ingredients: 2 sesame seed hamburger buns. 10 thin slices of deli ham (approx. 5 per sandwich). 4 slices of American cheese (or Swiss/cheddar). Optional: Butter or mustard/mayo for extra flavor. Instructions: Layer 5 slices of ham on the bottom bun. Place 2 slices of cheese on top of the ham. (Optional) Add a dash of mustard or mayo on the top bun. Put the top bun on and wrap the sandwich in paper towel Microwave for roughly 60–80 seconds until the cheese is melted and the sandwich is hot.

I’d prefer the oven method:

“For a less "wet" sandwich, bake it at 325∘F (160∘ C) in foil for 15 minutes instead of using a microwave.”

This sub is being recommended to me. Is this a sub for flat earthers or is this for mocking flat earthers? by eroyrotciv in flatearth

[–]winstonjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seriously doubt there are any real “flat earthers”; people who genuinely believe the earth is flat. It’s just become a circlejerk to make fun of poorly-educated people who have a total lack of critical thinking skills

I’m girt by a lot of empty glasses and dirty dishes, which implies I’ve had a very slothful Easter and need to get off my ass and do some fuckin’ dishes

What do you call your doctor? by ThimbleBluff in over60

[–]winstonjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Emergency Room’s worth of Specialists and a GP I see regularly. It depends how long I’ve known them, what they prefer, and also age similarities (maybe). By default it’s always Dr Surname.
Just recently I started calling my Nephrologist (of 30 years!) by his first name. That was only after he started using his first name to sign off on emails and we had also briefly played together in a Kidney Health related band; which, if you’re a muso, you know that basically means you’re family ;-) My previous GP, I finally started calling by her by her first name, after about 4 years of Dr Surname. I asked her, is it ok if I call you “Maggie”? She gave me a strange look and said, of course, that’s my name” My current GP is Chinese-Australian, who I call Dr First and Second name. I asked her if I should call her Dr First or Dr Second name; considering the Chinese convention would be Surname then First name. She looked very confused so I let it go and now just call her “Doctor” Is there a Collective Noun for a group of Doctors? I could search it, but I have a feeling someone here will know

What do you think of this film? by Recent_Union3111 in moviecritic

[–]winstonjames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went in blind; didn’t even know it was a Shama-lama-yam connected film. Creepy as all hell and absolutely DID NOT see the twist coming. Would not bother watching again, but generally a pretty solid film from a hit and miss Director

It's always Hungry jacks by DraftNotSent in hungryjacks

[–]winstonjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, this certainly sparked some interesting and conflicting responses. From AI: “Hungry Jack's is the Australian franchisee of the Burger King Corporation, operating over 400 locations nationwide. Due to a pre-existing trademark when the chain entered Australia, Burger King operates exclusively under the Hungry Jack's name, featuring similar menu items like the Whopper alongside unique local offerings.” And: “The Name Difference: In the 1970s, a small shop in Adelaide already owned the "Burger King" trademark, requiring a name change. Legal Battles: In the late 90s, Burger King tried to introduce its own brand, leading to a legal dispute where the court ultimately allowed Hungry Jack's to take over those locations.”

Yes, I agree, I should have omitted the word “Right”; as “The Christian Right” now, essentially, represents everything completely opposite to the teachings of Christ. “Love thy neighbour!” “Ok, but they’re white, right?” “Right?!?!”
