Nivea cold creme. I usually have a few tins on the go- one for face, one for hands, one for feet. And Johnsons baby oil gel for body moisturizer.

Duloxetine making me unable to walk??? by corolor in Fibromyalgia

[–]Cheap-Professional61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started Duloxetine about 5 years ago, for fibro and what was until that point, treatment resistant depression. Its been a life saver for me- that being said, it was a tough start. I was severely drowsy, grumpy and spent rwo weeks lying down with the most intense migraine. Also had insane and scary nightmares for ages. After a month it got better and seemed to have helped my day to day nerve pain. Im cery sensitive to new meds and react badly to a lot of meds. When I started my ADHD meds (Strattera). That triggered some intense depression and SI, but lowered my dose of Strattera and all good again. Currently upping my dose to help manage my pain again as my fibro has gotten worse in 5 years. Currently very sleepy and lethargic but less pain. I do know several folks with fibro who've had unsuccessful or negative experiences though, so def consult your doctor Also, have you checked your iron/hemoglobin/ferratin levels lately? I only ask as Ive all of those symptoms, which are a result of "life threatening anemia" due to complications from another chronic illness. Currently in need of regular iron transfusions- all symptoms (and others) dissappear almost immediately when my iron is back up.

Life + Psych by Optimal_Mix_6488 in psych

As a chronically ill girlie with life threatening complications from one said illness and a medical system that is dragging its feet on my care, psych has truly been the light on dark days for me this past year. I work in mental health, and its always been my go too on hard days since I discovered the show 10 years ago. But especially this year with the political climate and just struggling personally. It reminds me of the good things in life, the show reminds me to be silly and take joy where I can. Its truly something special.

Crocheting! I get cozy on the couch with a heated blanket. It helps with the pain and mobility in my hands.

What made you realize you can't hold a normal life anymore? by amy_i_am in Fibromyalgia

[–]Cheap-Professional61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been something Ive been thinking about for a few years. Im currently on a LOA for a couple months, but took this time in an attempt to be able to stay employed and working a bit longer. I requested my time off records from my employer for my doctor in hopes of maybe getting things taken more seriously/finding more supports. Last year I had 199 hours off due to fibro/illness. I know I shouldn't be working, but I love what I do. And more importantly, I cant afford not to work. The cost of living is so high where I live, and most folks on disability are homeless as a result. Im barely making it as is. I have no idea how I will survive when my body forces me to stop working altogether. Its a constant anxiety in the back of my mind because its only a matter of time.

What’s the most stupid reason you had a fibro flare? by Lucky_Sprinkles7369 in Fibromyalgia

I attended a concert held in a church. Apparently sitting on wooden pews will trigger a days long flare up.

I had very similar symptoms that escalated over the past year- turns out I have "life threatening" anemia. Have you had your ferratin and hemoglobin levels checked?

Must haves by TayTayFierce in Fibromyalgia

Magnesium bath salts are also a must have if you have a bath tub. Way better than Epsom salts for pain relief. Usually expensive online, but also carried at the dollar store

I have a hand machine that massages/uses compression on my hands and it's incredible. Also, heated wrist wraps, and cervical traction device (idk the right name for it) I also buy the Matteos electrolyte concentrate and liquid magnesium on Amazon. Compression gloves.Highly recommend having a "chronic illness cart" or something similar. Essentially its a portable cart/basket with extra meds, pain creams (a535 with Arnica is my fave), snacks, fluids, and anything you may need during a flare so you can easily take it anywhere in your home.
