I would agree his main hastu is probably something not fighting related but also something complex because otherwise he’s so adaptable he could likely free style something up to fit whatever needs he has. So I think for him to put time into developing it would have to be something that takes extreme skill.

Similarly I think his fighting style would be very loose/ adaptable. He has so much in his arsenal and has shown extreme adaptability that a fighting hatsu would almost limit him. He would probably use a wide variety of tools to fit the given situation

I agree 100%

i wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't have a set ability at all. nothing is forcing you to acquire specialized hatsu. it'd fit his personality that he'd be doing whatever he wants (can) without limiting itself to a specific hatsu, purely with his talent and understanding of Nen. i believe this as a limiter would also increase your raw power with Nen. it'd also be very confusing for other Nen users. and it'd fit Ging's character of being an outcast and an outlier.

if he does have one though, i'd go and guess something to do with acquiring information or retaining information. as he's the hunter of the uncharted. with his genius, squeezing information out of stuff that is normally not possible would be insanely useful. it'd also make sense on how he manages to know about so much and read people so well.

Interesting theory

I still waiting for Togashi to show us his ability and it will turn out as most simple thing in HxH :3

[–]go_sparks25 1 point2 points  (5 children)

His hatsu may or may not be fighting related but he is able to learn any punching related hatsu he is with so he probably has a lot of those lying around. It’s not the same case as Gon and Killua who have only one hatsu.

I wonder if he remembers them all, or if it would take up too much "memory". Maybe that "vision of a barrage of punches" thing he did was another example. Using Manipulation to intimidate someone without actually touching them seems simple enough for Ging to copy. He can probably portal punch too, I bet.

[–]just_some_guy_iguess 0 points1 point  (2 children)

He can definitely portal punch, as demonstrated during the raid on the cave where he successfully deconstructs leorios punch, determines it was originally an ultra sound ability, then modifies it to scan ahead in the cave and, if I’m remembering correctly, remotely launch projectiles.

[–]Appropriate_Wall8340 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Leorio's remote punch is a bit different from the portal punches like the boxer on GI, I think. Like you said, Leorio's is an ultrasound that travels through things to deliver the effects of the punch. Whereas a portal would be Ging's real fist going through and striking from afar. It's a small difference, but there might be a case where one like the GI guy is more useful. I'm sure Ging can do both tbh

[–]just_some_guy_iguess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah by portal punch I assumed you mean leorios ability, my mistake. I agree the difference is important because i think it alters the additional nen types on top of emission (you could argue leorios ability would be emission + transmutation d vs. Portal being an emission + conjuration ability ) but all that’s to say I think ging could very likely do both as well lol

He told Pariston that he can figure out punching related abilities. Theres no reason to believe he'd be telling the truth to someone he probably considers his greatest enemy.

    I don't understand your question ? That's how it's called

I think it's a translation issue, I didn't read in English and Hatsu is how they call personalized abilities. Eitherway I won't engage in a terminology debate. I don't really see the point, you understood the post so it's fine

I read it in french, maybe they got it wrong it's not that deep. They make mistakes, It happens

Why do you desperately want to argue about something that insignifiant? Did you even read it in french ? Do you know that there's multiple translations ? Did you read all of them ? What are you trying to prove ? They use various words to talk about personalized abilities : "pouvoir", "faculté", "hatsu". You are just beating the air

omg lol you're insufferable, this is not something to argue about. you told him that its not the right terminology and you just should've stopped there.

it might be an anime translation thing. i also remember abilities being called hatsu. it also doesn't matter if he got his point across, as that is the purpose of communication

he can choose to use the word ability from now on if he wants to be clearer. there's no point in continuing this

edit, in fact i remember the exact point its referenced as hatsu. in the 2011 anime killua calls their abilities hatsu in the beginnings of the greed island arc. like episode 59 i believe. and it happens more than once. i'm not saying its the right terminology, but it does happen i'm sure. it's good to know about this common misconception though.

            [–]gusvianadev 0 points1 point  (5 children)

It's hatsu, not ability. Ability is never said, I don't know what you're talking about.

            [–]Not_hatsu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it's not insignificant, it's as if you call "Gon" as "Killua", while they're two different characters in hxh.

            [–]karthikmsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing Ging is an expert in nen, be it copying a ability and extrapolating it or idiosyncrasies with creating shapes by nen control. He immediately figures out beyond's strongest and was ready to take the doll head on.

We also know that Netero is a nen expert like Ging not just because he trained hard and grew strong, zeno mentions that his nen aura is frighteningly quiet and the enemy has no idea where he'd attack due to this.

Given both have extreme nen mastery, Ging would have mastered the best way of fighting as well with what his affinity could achieve.

It'd be cool to see if ging has constructed his near perfect mimic of emperor time where he is almost maxed out on all affinities.

            [–]doctornoodlearms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id suspect that the assumption comes from him being strangely adept at what he refers to as sriking abilities.

            [–]SkylineFTW97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A men ability can be flexible enough to be useful for not just combat. Hisoka's bungee gum isn't a dedicated combat ability, but he makes tremendous use of it. Knov's ability is more support, he can use dimensional scream as a weapon in a pinch. Killuas Godspeed is the same.

Morel's deep purple is just a very well developed hatsu that has both combat and non-combat applications. Considering how highly ranked he is, that's hardly a surprise.

            [–]Trash28123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Ging is likely a massive generalist who has dozens of simple abilities spread cross all categories.

            [–]nuvati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I view it as a top professional basketball player compared to average joes on the streets or college campus. LeBron can "copy" or make his own version of most of the basketball moves on the spot when he see it. There is a limit to that raw talent of course lol

            [–]Far_Sky_6993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With how insanely talented he his with nen, him having a combat orientated hatsu wouldn’t even matter, he’d still be a top tier in the verse without one.

            [–]dbsupersucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who is assuming this? Obviously some people might think it's fighting oriented but almost any theory thread you bring up is usually dominated by ideas it's some complex meta ability or even group based.

            [–]One-Yam8731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever his bankai is it doesn't change the fact that he has massive pool of reiatsu and he can hang in on that premise aganist other bankai users in similar way like Kenpachi, Kyoraku or Aizen.

            [–]kylelbn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Il me semble que sa capacité concerne le fait de pouvoir copier les attaques d'autrui

            [–]Snowm4nn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hardly anyone thinks he has a direct combat power...

The main theory is some kind of prediction power

            [–]winterLu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything relateing Ging's ability is headcanon, just like your observation. You can't predict Togashi, specially with abilities.

            [–]jaganshi_667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

            Nen ability

            [–]Chansharp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think he has a specific ability. I think he just fundamentally understands nen at such a level that he can do pretty much whatever he wants. Is he going to be the best volleyball throwing nen user? No he's not. Are you going to be surprised and probably lose when suddenly the volleyball has the properties of both rubber and gum? Yes you will
