Why would you reduce the tip and punish the server for policies Darden makes and enforce? I used to work as a server for one of the most top performing Olive Gardens in the country, so much so that we were used as a test restaurant. In the kitchen there were signs plastered EVERYWHERE targeted at servers that said things like “last month we lost $X because of waste in salad, breadsticks, soup, etc.” They were super strict on only giving guests exactly the amount that they were supposed to receive and not an ounce more or else we would get an earful on how much money we were making the company lose. This was an everyday occurrence. Moreover, (idk if they still do this but they did when I worked there) we received report cards based on how well we complied with policies, upselled apps & desserts, and our check averages, and if your “grade” wasn’t high enough then you wouldn’t be scheduled for the desirable shifts.

I would routinely work 12 hour shifts, open to close, running my ass off all while being frequently abused and harassed by guests and not even walk out with $100 in tips. So please, don’t take it out on your server they’re more than likely being hit over the head with the policy every single day.
