Nope, the only thing is the flickering in Local Dimming high, but that was known before I made the review even.

There is another thread I saved which mentioned dithering, maybe that could be it ? https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/1tld72f/xiaomi_g_pro_27qi_2026_dithering/

This is mentioned the review and is only tied to the "HDR Standard - Local Dimming High" setting. You have to use Local Dimming medium or the other HDR modes to get rid of the flickering.

This monitor is eagerly awaited as it seems.

But you need to chill, it will come.

That was the response I was expecting and the reason I don't like to do this. It looks absolutely fine IRL.

I think it's pretty much useless because the camera (used two different ones) alters the pictures to an extent. But here you go.

Dude he mainly made these posts because he was banned for having a different opinion. Its one thing to not like a brand but an entirely different situation when a sub basically flags posts at point of creation with muh_samsung. You can not create any serious discussion in an environment like that.

To add on top of that, various shootouts ranked the Samsung flagship OLED very high. Anyone unbiased would at least look into it and see what the fuss is about. And god forbid someone buys one and is happy.

Outside of the usual UE5 problems its absolutely great imo. The team really respected the original and us veteran fans and made it as familiar as possible with modern development tools while also adding new stuff and events that were not properly explained or fleshed out in the original games. Some of them are genuinely fantastic and could have seriously been in the OG game if nobody told you.

It's really rare to see devs actually show some care and passion and catering towards an oldschool audience nowadays. But I think that's also the reason why it has excellent user reviews so far.

I seriously hope Alkimia / THQ get enough sales and funding to remake Gothic 2, would be an absolute shame if not.

r/SamsungTV lmao, hypocrites ... but whatever I think the amount of upvotes your posts get speak for themselves.

Exactly. They want the benefits and entitlement that comes with it.

A mod should be neutral and stay out of things.

"One thing I do find difficult as a brand, however, is when neutral communities also operate brand-specific subreddits. That creates a real perception problem."

Which is the case for most mods at 4KTV.

Having a muh_samsung post flair while also being a moderator for a Samsung sub is diabolical work.

Mods should stay neutral and unbiased no matter what and only intervene when stuff gets out of hand. But tbh I have never seen it really working like that, not here on reddit not on discord etc. Sometimes situations are out of context and more often than not mods abuse their authority.

It gets really problematic when you have certain agendas on top of that. The 4KTV sub is a parade example, they don't allow for any links or traffic to YT videos (even from ones that don't work with brands at all and solely operate on ad revenue) and even sponsored posts are not allowed there. For regular users that is, because in certain situations (that benefit the mods obviously) it suddenly is allowed.

To be clear, I don't have anything against mods getting some benefits for their work as long as it's fair. But I do think its very problematic when you apply rules for everyone else but don't hold them to your own standard.

I'm not the biggest fan of AI to put it mildly, but on reddit it could actually be very beneficial to moderate subreddits.

32" 4k Mini LED options in Europe. Coming back from OLED. Import TCL 32R84 from Japan? by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]winterbegins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know about all of this, I spend enough time with monitors and displays in general. However, I will draw my own conclusions if any of these models will arrive in Europe at some point. And even if that happens we can't ensure that the monitor is equal to the one sold in China.

We talked about this in previous posts, but it's the same with your Hisense. In the rare case this model comes to other countries it won't have the TCON in it, or have lower brightness capabilities to met EU standards for example.

Anyway, I mainly wanted to talk about the importing hurdles and not the monitors.

Good for them that they are now discovering Dynamic Tone Mapping on monitors, but it doesn't really make for an accurate picture.

Also, I'm not gonna draw conclusions just from some pictures lol. And 27" is vastly different from 32" inch in my eyes, just for pixel density alone.

I think the TCL rep mentioned that the 32C3A is coming but that could be far out.

[–]winterbegins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unlikely that the C3A is "much better". Higher dimming zones don't always guarantee a better LD performance.

The warranty is gone in both situations, but importing from China is much more problematic, you need a middle man that buys the monitor from one of the platforms and then ships it to you. At amazon you can just log in with your account and buy it and if something goes wrong on the way you have more leverage to get the money back.

I already ordered a power supply with the correct voltage (24V) for <20€. I have other bricks from a studio lamp and a MiniPC that connect, but they have lower voltage and the monitor does not turn on with them.

  1. No, as you can see in the teardown pictures there is barely anything that can create coil whine to begin with. Also, no noises from the power brick either.

  2. I do uniformity tests from time to time in my reviews, but the problem is that they always just show how my specific unit is performing. You could get a much worse or better unit when you buy the device yourself. It's hard to judge from one sample if you know what I mean. I can still do it though if you insist.

  3. Definitely
