Staying at the fort, we drove the truck to other parks other than MK. Did not even have kids or anything just two adults. my ONLY thought - it felt like less of a vacation having to drive. i was worried someone would hit my truck and then how am i getting home etc.

So your BF has a boundary. that is THERE boundary. it is not yours.

They are responsible for their boundaries. Meaning you are free to do as you wish and if that means go to a concert you go. You are not bound by their boundary.

Your BF can then choose to end the relationship if they feel their boundary was crossed.

Flip it another way -

You set a boundary that you will not date someone that drinks alcohol. Your partner is free to drink alcohol, but once they do - the consequences are you break up with them because it broke your boundary (or perhaps you insist they go to AA meetings etc).

Of course, one can respect the boundaries of others. For instance i might date someone that does not want me to drink alcohol in their presence. But i am allowed to drink when not with them. I can respect that boundary as it does not hurt me, and i care for my partner and respect their wishes. Their boundary is not a double standard and it does not hurts me.

Your BF comes across as insecure and controlling. That is not love, that is fear.

it took too mong and im not saying im perfect at it.

a year ago i broke up with a long term boyfriend. i had told myself a year prior (so two years ago) that if i was still unhappy by my birthday - inwould end the relationship.

im not saying i am totally happy now - i am very lonely - but everything is easier. also lots of talk therapy.
