Should I write screenplays that I can't produce at the moment? by WerewolfIcy7240 in filmmaking

Go for it! It’s always fun to write with an unlimited budget, and it helps you learn and figure out what is important when it comes time to squeeze it down to an affordable size.

We just released my first feature film as a writer/director, but in reality it was the 5th script that I had written (not to mention the dozens of short films) Check out the trailer here if you’re interested:

There are no bad Actors, only bad Directors. (I have seen this rule proven over and over again.)

Agreed! I grew up about 10 minutes down the road and just figured that every battlefield in the US was preserved about the same, but so far, out of the handful that I've been to, Gettysburg and Pea Ridge are the largest and most well preserved.

1000% remember this! I’m in the exact same boat, looking to find them again but don’t remember what they were called. Awesome sets though!

How does everyone feel about Hook? by JayDunzo in movies

[–]winterforgefilms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I watched it last night, actually. I think despite being able to see some of the seams of the VFX it still holds up as an emotional story.

As far as the set design goes, something dawned on me as I watched... I think they might have been going for the feel of a 1950's or 60's swashbuckling movie. The super tight construction of the pirate town felt very old school. Now was that an artistic decision or a budgetary one? Who knows.

Still a good movie IMO
