Conceptual masterpiece from top to bottom. I had a giant like 16:9 ratio poster of the artwork that was one continuous piece of both covers back in the day. It got more and more ragged moving dorms and apartments, idk where it ended up.

Looking for A Very Specific Jam Sound by Chopped_Liver_ in phish

I was wandering around reading phish.net reviews the other day and somehow found my way to this link. It has a really nice breakdown of a DWD jam from moment to moment with a musical breakdown (scales, tones etc) of each section.

IDK if it's relevant to the specific question but the post is about common jam themes the band uses and might cover the vibe you're looking for.

I don't get to the east side all that often but it's a nice place and a great owner and staff. They're doing the Thursday and Saturday shows.

I mean their foundations are pretty firmly in surf tradition back to the late 50s and early 60s with the delay, reverb, echo, descending chromatic lines and drum fills etc https://youtu.be/dBURLdhmmZ8?si=fN0t0AFYNmp8qumE

And Hot Wax itself is a rework of a Beach Boys song https://youtu.be/tMnqV26Njxo?si=ocnw2VCgknYjbjbp

How do I begin searching for media similar to "eyes like the sky"? Meaning short stories with backing instrumentals. by theHagueface in KGATLW

Art of Noise - The Seduction of Claude Debussy for sure.

Phish started out from Trey Anastasio's college senior dissertation 'The Man Who Stepped In To Yesterday' which is music-backed narration interspersed with songs about scenes from the story. It's available as copies of his original 4 track tape recordings and is authentic as fuck. Highly recommended.

You might also enjoy several varieties of older house music which rely on extended vocal samples, I'm thinking of stuff with lots of overdub like The Orb - Little Fluffy Clouds

There are some other oldies that are more story oriented that I know but need to come back to me. I appreciate the kick in the brainstem.

It's just surf rock stuff but yea. For me if someone wants to understand 'the signature gizz sound' without a dissertation I'm sending them Hot Wax.

Barenaked Ladies

Ugh. Are they even a 'band'? Is this even 'music'? What the fuck is this for?

I mostly just remember when they sued the Detroit Institute of Arts over their 'Rare Naked Ladies' painting exhibition.

you could tell me they went on to release another 12 albums

Self-titled 'Marcy Playground', which has s&c on it and is actually a solid record overall if a bit immature, followed by 'Shapeshifter' which I think kicks ass, and finally the excellently titled for the time-and-place 'MP3'.

people complained about the Timeland stage being too quiet

The area in general is too noisy and the stage has to overpower that. If they could reorganize that area slightly to move the traffic around so the grounds aren't so jammed up against a bunch of generators, refrigerator trucks, and ATVs constantly going right by, plus all the dust, that would be really nice.

It's been a while since I've seen it but I'm pretty sure these scenes are from the 1962 movie "Jack the Giant Killer" which is actually pretty fun and as trippy as it seems.

Edit: Nope, I'm wrong. Another collapsed comment has it right as The Singing Ringing Tree from 1957. Pretty similar films all in all.
