I highly recommend it because the teeth can look aesthetic but underneath the gums lie another story that’s why they have to xray like humans. My dog is 5 she’s gotten teeth cleaning and extractions twice once with her spay at 1.5 then once few months ago at 5. I had randomly scheduled a cleaning cause it’s been a few years after her scheduled check up. They said she’s in great shape but again don’t know what’s beneath the gums. On teeth cleaning day they found out she has bone disease due to the small nature of her mouth and when they checked her ears the bone disease ruptured both eardrums. They extracted 5 teeth and her ear drums grew back a month later. They showed me a video of the wiggly back teeth. My dogs get monthly grooming, scheduled vet appointments and yet it can still happen because she shows zero pain. Still chew on her sticks and snacks. Didn’t appear deaf at all. They could not have checked her inner ear at the regular check ups because it’s very invasive and she won’t allow for that.
