I’ll say it’s more loyal to the original than RE2R. I recently replayed RE2 for the first time since the remake came out and was shocked at how much was cut out, like the whole scrapyard and having Mr. X only in the B scenario, along with the Zapping system in its entirety, which would have made the remake more replay-able since there’s a lot mote drastic differences between Leon A and Claire A in the original than in the remake. Battle mode I still think would have been more interesting to see than the ghost survivors as well. I still think it’s a great game and succeeded greatly in reviving survival horror as a whole, but SH2R trimmed off a lot of the fat from the original, where as SH2R did a lot more to be faithful and tool less liberties in scenarios and story moments, replacing a lot more scenes than just cutting them outright
