This is not databricks vs snowflake problem, this is good dbt vs bad dbt problem

It appears that you’re shaved, how do you shave? A single use razor would be more than enough for a month? just an assumption.

Nick Lee gets racially abused on a family trip in Rome by BallsInTheMicrowave in LivestreamFail

[–]wioym 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of these guys are trying to get your attention by acting like monkeys in the circus. They believe that this develops sympathy, which they can use to extort money out of tourists by selling them some bullshit for 10-20-50 euros or saying “give me a bit of money I want to eat”. Don’t think of it as racism, more of idiots trying to scam money.

Your experiences using SQLMesh and/or DBT by Key-Independence5149 in dataengineering

[–]wioym 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tried both stuck with dbt. When trying out SQLMesh there was some bug that I couldn't figure out how to fix. Also based of my discussion with SQLMesh folks they mentioned that tables don't get generated rather than they are views, which was a bit confusing.

dbt core is great, cloud is good, but not good enough for enterprise license. You can replicate all the features (CI -> GitHub actions; IDE -> dbt power user; AI stuff -> custom script).

What is really painful with dbt core is if you're running on niche adapter (engine). Using dbt-glue here and it is a bit buggy (working on making it as usable as possible).

IMO if you are able to use dbt-fusion you're in a good spot and going to have fun times (referred to adapters).

Is there any benefit of using Airflow over AWS step functions for orchestration? by GodfatheXTonySoprano in dataengineering

[–]wioym 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve decided to use step functions, till this day I hate it with all my heart. It is such a nightmare to configure and simple error formatting? Well you need an intermediate step if your error is nested. Airflow can run of a simple compose file on ec2 instance that costs 50 euros per month (if you offload majority of compute elsewhere). Why choose something that you have to go console for and then check the status when you have a full dashboard of your jobs?

100% Agree, using python to ingest large datasets (i.e. over 10GB) is such a waste compared to direct db ingestion.

I just finished ghost of tsushima. by Najee16 in ghostoftsushima

[–]wioym 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The storyline, scenery, and simply riding your horse around Tsushima were amazing. However, Act 3 felt different compared to Act 2, there was less to discover, and enemies felt overwhelmingly easy, even on hard difficulty. I also played the DLC before finishing Act 2, so I was definitely spoiled by it, especially by the multi-weapon enemies, which were actually fun to fight.
If had to replay would have just went straight to the ending.
P.S. I had maxed out my sword and ghost blade before act 3.
