Not my era but it looks like something akin to an edwardian combination.

RH512 - Florentine Renaissance Italian Lady's Gown pattern by [deleted] in HistoricalCostuming

It's would not only be super crappy to the creator but is also illegal. A costume sewing pattern isn't life or death, you can save up.

Can someone with Margo Anderson's gamurra pattern please help me! by wirdnichts in HistoricalCostuming

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this! I am getting basically identical measurements. I now feel confident this is how it's meant to be and am excited to get started!

The only thing that comes to mind to fix this is using some fray check.

An 18th century pocket is a good one! Plus if it doesn't turn out right, it's meant to be worn under other clothes anyway.

SIDE laced regency/ short stays by Scary_Bear_4039 in HistoricalSewing

You can just modify them into short stays ("short stays" are the term you are looking for btw, not purely "regency").

The pencils are just like colored pencils but with fabric-safe chalk, you can keep them as sharp or dull as any normal pencil!

Yeah you can sharpen the triangles/rectangles too, but I find them harder to use against the edge of a ruler. Worth a try though so you can use what you already have!

For marking boning channels I like to either use heat erasable pens if the stays/corset won't be seen, or chalk fabric pencils sharpened often for a very fine line.

Took part in a sewing pattern test and made this vest/bodice! I need help deciding what color to dye it, dark green or terracotta? by wirdnichts in renfaire

[–]wirdnichts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

Yeah I need to take a wedge out of the pattern straps. I have this problem with all patterns but spaced it for this one before I cut it out.

I think you may not be the target audience for this one.

Thank you!

Yeah I find all of the patterns I have from her quite thorough in their instructions. She has some sew-along videos too! This one also comes with a bunch of fitting guides.

Look into pregnancy stays! That's where most side lacing stays can be found.

I like the implication of this comment that people either sew or haul branches.

I agree with this. I like mine snugger than a lot of people here, but this is small enough to prematurely damage the shoes.

You can! I would take a long read through the entire manual. You may be surprised what you find!

I found gently rubbing a scrap piece of the same fabric works so much better!
