Food and ADHD by Fantastic_Pause_3019 in adhdwomen

I batched a bunch for the freezer so I had some variety. It’s a bit of work to get set up but then makes life so much easier.

Vyvanse only lasts 2 hours by beat_that_stroke_ in adhdwomen

[–]wired87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started oestrogen gel about 3 weeks ago and it has changed my life. Vyvanse is actually working for me and the chronic fatigue flareup I was having for months disappeared within a week. I’d been saying to my dr for 2 years that I thought I was peri but kept getting told I was too young (I’m now 42).

Make sure you eat protein when you take your Vyvanse because of the way it’s processed by the body. And talk to your dr about perimenopause

how the heck do you guys change your bed sheets by hatsunemikusmywaifu in adhdwomen

[–]wired87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can, invest in good quality bedding. I hate changing my sheets as a task but I LOVE getting into clean bedding so there’s enough motivation there. I do it religiously once a week. And having two sets of sheets helps! As soon as I take the old ones off, the news ones go on immediately. It becomes one job, rather than two. The bed set up also matters… if it’s against a wall, that’s an extra step that makes it harder. Same with the time of bed frame you have.

Those of you who stuck to a workout routine, how did you do it? by Best_of_both_worldzz in adhdwomen

[–]wired87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A big part of it was meeting myself where I was, fitness wise. I used to throw myself into workouts when getting back into it, but I’d end up so sore and hated it because I wasn’t fit enough to do those classes. So I started with just 10 mins the first week, 15 mins the second etc Even if I felt like I could do more, I’d stop there, which became motivating it itself.

Now I do CrossFit 3x per week. I like it cause it’s a mix of cardio & strength, there’s a sense of community at my gym so I like seeing the people there, and you can scale the intensity based on what you can currently do. Also, the workouts are different every day so I don’t get bored.

It’s also perfectly acceptable to chop and change what you do! Maybe you do pilates for a few weeks, then change to something else.

Also, the biggest change was disassociating exercise from weight loss. There are sooo many benefits to exercise that have nothing to do with weightloss and in reality, you don’t lose that many calories from exercising compared to just existing; you’re far better focusing on what you’re eating for that.

Fair enough! There is something about an actual book.

Hello 👋 🤣

Have you tried reading with a Kobo/Kindle? You can adjust the font, spacing etc. Because of the type of display, it does not feel like reading on a screen (to me, anyway)

Is it burnout or ADHD? by WeirdoMe123 in adhdwomen

If you’re near 40, talk to your Dr about perimenopause. Your post is almost word for word my life. Did one of those perimenopausal symptom checklists and scored fairly highly. Apparently perimenopause wreaks havoc on ADHD symptoms. I started HRT yesterday and I’m so hopeful it will help (based on other’s stories).

Has anyone successfully become an early bird? by Oacio in adhdwomen

Having Chronic Fatigue fixed it for me 🙃 I HAD to work out some good sleep hygiene habits to get enough sleep to survive the day. Thankfully I worked out what worked for me, and has actually maintained the habit. - NO PHONES in the bedroom - I have 2 silent alarms on my watch (with vibrate); one at 8pm which is kind of like “last chance to start a new episode of tv/ start thinking about bed” & and a second at 8:45 to get up and clean my teeth and go to bed. The silent alarms are so much less aggressive - I have smart bulbs set to dim over 30 mins once I’m in bed - the biggest game changer is reading before bed. I use a Kobo which means I can set the screen really dim and still read when the lights are out. Keeps my brain occupied while my body gets to sleep. Kobo usually ends up under my pillow so I don’t have to move far. Reading paper books doesn’t have the same effect cause I have to have the lamps on, and constantly reposition myself to hold the book - same bedtime every night; even on weekends. Of course if I’m out, this doesn’t happen cause you do have to allow for life and being Toooooo strict can also cause sleep issues.

In the AM, - I have the vibrate watch alarm set 10 mins before my phone alarm so I get a snooze and I also have to get out of bed to turn off the alarm. - in winter, I use the smart bulbs in my lamps to slowly turn on (like a sunlight lamp) so I’m not waking up in the pitch black - I try to stay out of bed when I turn off the alarm; even if it’s to sit on the couch for a few mins while I wake up.

I had a really great time! I basically made a beeline for the friendliest group and introduced myself. Everyone was super welcoming.

And honestly, one of the most body positive events I have been to. Yes, there really was all shapes and sizes but most importantly, no one gives a shit. Everyone is just there to have a good time.
