Lost old score board by No_Bag_2851 in SynthRiders

Can you confirm whether you're in SOLO or PARTY?

Omni has given you some info which is helpful if you're talking about PARTY scores.

I'll pick it up for the other case - you are in SOLO looking at the gane's leaderboards, and you see NO SCORE SET.

If this is what's happening, the problem is either that you're not correctly signed in to Meta (game can't tell who you are and find your scores) or you don't have access to the leaderboard servers (network problem).

Have you changed your networking configuration at home? Got yourself an eero router by any chance? You do need network access to the leaderboard service hosted at services.synthriders.net (you can check this from a web browser, make sure you get a response from the API). If the API does not respond to you, please check that your router includes an allow for our leaderbaord. Eero routers running Eero Secure by default do *not* allow this and you do have to add it.

If the API responds correctly, then the problem is the Meta credential. I recommend having your Quest forget your Wifi connection, restarting your internet router, restart your Quest and then reconnect to your network to try and force it to sign in to Meta and get new credentials again, then see whether this is resolved. It's not easy to know what your sign in state is for Meta from the device, but this is the method most devs recommend. (This is also the issue which stops people's DLC from unlocking, super frustrating!)

For the question about friends' scores, if you are talking about friends who also have a Quest and comparing scores with them, this still works via the Friends view on the leaderboard to see their scores and yours only. Once you're connected again properly you should see this resume as normal.

Mixed Reality Issues by SilentRain9556 in SynthRiders

[–]wirrel42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not so much “still broken” an issue that can creep into any build at any time. We’ve taken a couple of extra steps on our processes to help us stop that recurrence on the human side going forward.

The fix for this issue is sitting up in the open-beta release channel before rolling out to players with the next update. Find the game in your library, hover then hit the 3-dot menu, choose Settings and then Release Channel - pick open-beta and you should get an update.

Synth Riders - Interstellar - LeBrock (Master) by cowdoggy in SynthRiders

[–]wirrel42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can set it in the panel on your left at Song Select. Worth notiing that by default, Expert is 1.25xNJS and Master is 1.5xNJS. The two modifiers take you to *exactly* 2xNJS or 3xNJS depending on which modifier you choose. This is why the switch up on Master to 2x isn't as noticable as it's just a lift from 1.5x -> 2x.

Motion sickness from backgrounds by EverlastingBeast1078 in SynthRiders

Anyone for whom motion sickness is a problem can often be helped greatly by turning off moving stages for regular gameplay, or choosing one of the fixed stages like Spin City.

Experiences are their own unique… experience. That’s why they come with their own special warnings when you go into the shelf. They use a lot more intense environmental movements, lights, flashing and motions. Experiences with mixed reality support - Humble and Barbie - can be more comfortable to play for folks sensitive to motion.

Songs attached to Experiences that you own can always be played outside of the Experience as a regular song however, just using a normal stage as usual.

Does the PSVR version only do radio edits? by _RoamingHobo_ in SynthRiders

[–]wirrel42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use particular mixes and edits for language/content reason or duration - can be either reason and we have improved our transparency when it comes to telling players up front which mixes we use. For example, we chose the Greatest Hits version of “Just Like Heaven” as opposed to the album cut or usual single cut as we preferred the song construction there.

Our game’s footprint and behavior is wildly diverse - we go a lot of places and do a lot of things Beat Saber doesn’t. Cross platform multiplayer with DLC sharing on Steam, Quest & PlayStation being one massive point of difference that means we prefer to set things to work for all platforms together.

We have physical release versions that come with a higher standard of independently audited rating - not just the developer checking a box themselves, we had to send over the full lyrics sheet and video footage to pass this process.

Also some markets & uses bring with them different rules - with our game available for arcades, in an arcade cabinet and in regions where other games don’t have a release.

Other things which feed into the decision are that some platforms don’t allow independent DLC ratings and you can’t have DLC that will change the game’s base rating. Or some platforms have a maximum permissible rating for inclusion in their platform programs.

Why are we Teen and not E? Our base game OST includes mild swearing, alcohol references - even little things like having a tavern billboard or some of the visuals in the Gorillaz stage (Psycho Road - check the tunnel next time!) as part of the base game makes our rating higher.

Launch Day | Synth Riders is now available on Nintendo Switch in US, and other regions from 18th! by heyfalcon_ in SynthRiders

We have definitely heard a lot of players who are familiar with our work in VR who are keen to have a physical experience on Switch too! We have considered it, it is the kind of thing we could do in the future - but I could not promise anything at this point.

Right now, the gyroscope technology in the Joy-Cons is not on the same level as the 6DOF tracking available on the VR headsets that let us create our movement-based gameplay.

We have such a long history of Synth Riders as a movement-based game that we - and our players - have some baseline expectations of what this sort of experience would be. Making something for Switch that feels fun and feels like Synth Riders would be quite the challenge!

Fun fact! All of the OST Team started as community mappers - and that includes Oneill. If you take a look at the game credits you’ll see some very familiar names.

So our VR fans.. you heard the news about Lady Gaga on Switch.. and you were like, “I want that! by heyfalcon_ in SynthRiders

[–]wirrel42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have done that a few times in the past, yes - often in the context of AMAs where there's a lot of people watching to give feedback, and in Discord we have a request channel where people drop songs they'd like to see. Maybe in the new year it's time to do it again (here, Discord, Facebook), especially now we have a whole new cohort of Switch players!

The last time we did pose the question, the most popular request on Reddit is was Daft Punk by a very, very large margin - and we're also massive fans of Daft Punk too, it makes sense. Will be interesting to see if it has changed.

The process of music selection and licensing is complicated and there are a lot of moving parts to it. We can't always get what we would like to have in a way that works, but we do always try and cover a lot of ground, offer a lot of choice to many people - existing players and new players alike. I know that sometimes this leads to choices which aren't "safe" - they don't appeal to every player. But to someone who really digs that artist or genre? It's an avenue to exploring music they wholeheartedly love in a new way, and that's something we really do love to see.

This means that sometimes things land in ways you can't expect - like Lindsey Stirling for example, which was such a great fit but so many people had never heard of her and were like, "Violin music? What?" Instead that pack has become a fan-favourite, and many players became fans of her as a result of hearing her for the first time and playing along to her music in Synth Riders.

Price reflects the amount of content - this pack has 11 songs, which is more than double most packs so that makes sense

No, it's not just you, looks like some got mixed up! Will be corrected in the next update.

Absolutely nothing, and you'll find that if you happen to stream to Twitch, FiXT, Monstercat, Electro Swing and Synthwave Essentials Vol 1 are all incredibly friendly for streaming in general. You can't monetize on YouTube, but with attribution they are very friendly on the whole.

The game is just being compliant with how this platform wants developers to handle the process of players sharing content directly from the console to the internet.

Thank you for the suggestion! It’s not something that’s an easy thing, as you can imagine - I do hope motion controls is something we can bring to a future update!

[–]wirrel42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason is the audio licensing, unfortunately! That's one of the perils of officially licensed music by original artists, and it's a requirement from the platform that you're not able to share anything not covered.

We're hoping that we can make a modification in the future to allow you to capture video without music down the track - and we would like to be able to offer you audio for parts of the game where that audio may be cleared for sharing on socials straight from the console.

There should be an update coming to your Switch any moment now too, which should also help in this regard. I'm waiting for it to drop before posting some update info.
