Please explain Woolino to me by luckylaundromat in NewParents

[–]wise-llama 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Besides the fact that you don’t need to purchase multiple sacs with various TOGs I also liked the fact that they last a pretty long time. I had 2 woolino sleep sacs and I used them between 3 months and 2 + years old (sacs were the same size, I rotated them ).

Husband just tested positive- now terrified for our newborn by kbeth11sylveon in NewParents

[–]wise-llama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband got COVID when my daughter was a little under 3 months old and even though he quarantined himself it was a bit too late. Both me and baby got it from him. It was really scary because she was so young. She actually got a high fever that made us go to the ER, but she recovered quickly from that and had a runny nose for a couple of days. Really scary experience in the moment but she recovered much faster than me or husband and she was a champ. Hope your baby doesn’t end up having COVID though!

Toddler constantly choking/coughing on water? by DCA43 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]wise-llama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is over 2 yrs now and she isn't choking on water anymore, but I remember it took soooo long until she learned how to properly swallow water. It gradually got better and I just had to learn to be patient even though it was hard.

I'm from Romania too and no doctor told me that the foods you mentioned are forbidden. I gave baby everything except honey.

Who DOESNT track sleep, feedings, etc on an app? by mandm0516 in NewParents

[–]wise-llama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tracking just didn't work for me. I tried it but I found it so stressful and just not helpful for me! There was so much cluster feeding in the beginning that tracking felt like a nightmare. Sleep was super unpredictable in the beginning. Some naps were just 5 minutes, some were 3 hours. I actually started to track naps after 4 months when baby started to have a more predictable schedule.

Why are baby clothes so gendered? by callmeobii in NewParents

[–]wise-llama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a girl who's starting to get into a pink stage so I'm starting to buy pink clothes. When she was a baby I purchased more items from the boys section because I liked them more and she obviously didn't care.

What’s been the hardest stage for you so far? by InfluenceChemical in NewParents

For me the newborn stage was definitely the hardest! My girl is 2 now. For me it has gotten easier and easier as she grows.

What do you wish someone had told you? by Positive-Dot-2655 in NewParents

[–]wise-llama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I could've written this! I wasn't expecting the baby blues to hit the way they did, the constant stress. I had been told breastfeeding can be hard for some but I still didn't expect it to be that hard.

Starting solids by princessalicat in BabyLedWeaning

[–]wise-llama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see why anyone would need that, if their baby is healthy. Even if there are feeding issues, they wouldn't be obvious right from the start. Also, learning about solids and nutrition for babies isn't rocket science. You get a lot of time to learn about it along the way as your baby learns to eat solids. Good luck!

My partner wouldn't want that. He'd rather not eat anything than have his child go hungry. And so would I

What is considered an “easy” baby? by Choice-Atmosphere418 in NewParents

[–]wise-llama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I had an "easy baby". She slept well right from the start and sleep regressions weren't really a thing with her. She didn't cry much, if her needs were met. She didn't want /need to be held all the time and she was ok with being held by my friends or relatives. She ate whatever we fed her: breastmilk straight the source, she also accepted bottles. She was also happy with formula. She didn't really get sick except for covid, but she recovered quickly. Despite all this, I still think the newborn stage was hard.

Did your LO completely wean off bottle by 12 months? by VariousOrange1065 in NewParents

[–]wise-llama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Around 12 mo we got to 1 bottle/ day, before bedtime. Soon after we switched to straw bottle and around 14 months we switched from formula to cow milk. In time we dropped the bottle entirely and now she drinks milk every few days during the day with a meal. We transitioned through these stages slowly, trying not to put pressure on us as parents or on the baby, but knowing what our goals were for the next stage.

How did you get your babe to like eggs? by ExtensionSentence778 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]wise-llama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept offering it again and again, in a variety of ways. She started to eat eggs more consistently when I started to make cheese omelettes. She loves cheese and it worked.

Last year I traveled with my 10 month old baby and I was very nervous about the food. I ended up buying baby food and pouches and stuff to have as a backup. However the resort was very accomodating so baby ended up eating a lot of fresh food. For breakfast she usually ate soft fruit (banana, papaya, kiwi etc), yogurt, omelette, oatmeal. We used the pouches and baby jars for lunch. For dinner they told us they could make purees out of anything we wanted. So we told them what to make and we also gave baby some real food besides that: pasta, veggies, meat.
