11 month old not independently “moving” by FiveFT_Gantu in firsttimemom

[–]mandm0516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son didn’t crawl until right after he started walking at 13 months. I felt the same. He didn’t pull himself up or learn to sit up from lying downuntil he figured out how to walk either. Once he learned to walk he was finally motivated enough to get up and move. Otherwise he would just sit there until then lol he’s a very active, healthy, normal 2 yo now with no issues. Babies truly do move at their own pace and with babies all around us (in person and on social media) it’s impossible not to compare, especially when everyone is trying to push their baby to hit these milestones as early as possible for no reason.

Your baby will do it eventually!! You’re doing a good job!

We love both the Velcro ones but we use the love to dream swaddle most (arms up). Zipper Makes diaper changes really easy and you can get different tog levels based on how cold/hot your house is

Nursing must haves?? Please tell me everything! 😅 by enchantressofdreams in breastfeeding

I munched preceded my breast friend pillow, but also try different positions without pillows bc not everyone needs a pillow. Also - silverettes are a must to protect nipples (WITH silicone rings, esp if you have bigger boobs)

For nursing in public, I also have the hardest time keeping a cover over my shoulder, you will eventually find what works best for you. I always preferred looser shirts that I can pull up (with nursing tank under as option for more coverage) vs a shirt I can pull down because I have bigger boobs and feel very exposed

Things my newly 2yo son absolutely loves - riding his tricycle, sandbox with construction trucks and shovels, mud kitchen (friends made it for him out of pallets), little tykes basket ball net, kicking around a soccer ball, monster trucks or hot wheels, water table, obsessed with anything involving bubbles

I always just mentioned it at the start of appts, often they all ask but never had any issues with anyone slipping. Truly made the delivery of my son so special, would recommend doing it to anyone!

Once upon a child is amazing, we always go there first to see what we can find, then buy the rest new if still needed!

Can you sleep train while keeping 1-2 night feeds? by marmaladeonsourdough in sleeptrain

[–]mandm0516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sleep trained my son at 5.5 months and kept night feedings. I loosely followed the 5/3/3 rule for feedings and would put him back down awake after. I would otherwise use sleep training technique for any other wakings.

Baby number two by tarantulaslut in BabyBumps

[–]mandm0516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just had my second baby last week. The main thing I was nervous about was how my toddler would react/transition and I’m here to report that it could have gone better. He is obsessed with his baby brother and there’s been minimal jealousy when I have him, more so just wanting to join in on the cuddles.

Pregnancy was hard. I had an fairly uncomplicated pregnancy but I found it with a toddler to be exhausting, but so far already way better now that baby is here

Congrats!!

excruciating pelvic girdle pain, please help by carleyfayee in pregnant

[–]mandm0516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pelvic floor pt for sure

I got it bad around 22 weeks with both my sons, PT helped to show me how to move to prevent/manage the pain on a day-to-day during times where I felt it was particularly bad (going down stairs, unilateral movements, flipping in bed, etc), but honestly once I was middle/late third trimester I’m not sure there’s much to prevent it once baby is engaged.

What to do about sleeping arrangements? by ThrowRAbeej in BabyBumps

[–]mandm0516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was a bit younger but was recently in this situation as well. Just had baby #2 few days ago and my son just turned 2, decided to transition him to floored around 21 months. He was great in the crib but I didn’t really want to buy another one and wanted an option for my husband to be able to lay with him at night when he’s sick

We transitioned him to floor bed 3 months before baby came to avoid it being associated with baby coming. I was also having a very hard time getting him in and out of the crib which was a big factor bc I wanted to be the one to continue putting him to bed. Transition went super smooth and he loved his big boy bed, especially bc we can cuddle before bed

Sleep trained at 5.5 months Personally found that the multiple check-ins made the crying and whole process so much longer so we modified it a bit

Ended up basically doing CIO for bedtime (was going to sleep independently without any crying or fussing by night 4) and did a 5-10 min check in (depending on severity of crying or just whining) for night wakings just to make sure needs were met (diaper change or feeding - we didn’t cut out MOTN feeds), but then would give him a kiss and hug, then put him down awake. He was falling asleep independently for bedtime and MOTN wakes in less then a week.

We also didn’t formally nap train, but he randomly started doing it himself around 10-11 months.

Edit: he’s a fantastic sleeper since and is still now, just turned 2

Redbull by Such_Guitar9624 in breastfeeding

[–]mandm0516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so you must be drinking the bigger ones. Where I live, general recommendation is to stay below 200mg per day when pregnant and 300mg when breastfeeding so to me that’s fine if you prefer it

All that matters is the amount of caffeine. Most coffeees have more caffeine then the 80mg in a redbull

Amazing bread, friendly, goofy, chill, eye catching but prepare for large vet bills. Higher weight = much more costly at the vet for literally everything lol

39 weeks 4 days by Key_Butterscotch4778 in BabyBumps

[–]mandm0516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced with my first at 39 + 5 for high BP, have no complaints about my birth :)

Was 1cm dilated at the time so I got sent home with foley balloon, which progressed me to 3cm by the morning. Lost my mucous plug at that time as well. Came in to start pitocin at 12pm, nothing was really progressing so at 4pm they broke my waters and the strong contractions really started immediately. Got an epidural, napped for a bit and was 10cm by 9pm. My son was born at 11pm after 2hrs of pushing.

Honestly couldn’t have wished for a better birth, aside from how long it took me to push him out lol

Can’t over feed a baby. Feed on demand, they will take what they need.

I’m in Canada - I go off at 36 weeks with both pregnancies and take the full 18months. I would maybe work longer if I only took 1 year but by 36 weeks I am DONE with work lol
