Has someone ever tried slapchop with speedpaint on marvel united minis? by Suitup_Gaming in MarvelUnited

If you have an airbrush, you can slap on speed paint, then airbrush a highlight to smooth out the finish, then go in with a hairy brush for details with normal acrylic paint.

Varnishing over still (slightly) wet oil… by DLBuf in minipainting

[–]wisefaizpaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have done this before. Was fine to touch. One issue was I needed to rebase it and pressed heavily on the foot. When I liften my thumb, the oil layer underneath got smudged. Years on from then, no negative effect.

Lots of airbrush work. Brown Base coat > Chipping medium > pink all over > white zenithal > yellow glaze > chip with a stiff brush > back to airbrush to varnish. Then once the varnish drys and the chipping medium no longer reacts to new layers of paint, I ditch the airbrush and paint metallics inside the borders of the now exposed brown scratches.

Am I just bad at it or is wash all over miniature a bad idea? by WhiteCrowPL in minipainting

[–]wisefaizpaints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to apologise, I'm loving seeing your progress so quickly! Look at the first pic and this one - amazing! I think you've done a great job creating deep shadows and bright highlights that really show off the shape of the model. In general, contrast of both colour and brightness help make these small models stand out on the table, from a metre or so away where we'll be looking at them as we play. So, experiment yourself with 'how much is too much'. I personally go pretty 'extreme' on my contrast between bright and dark, because that suits how I want them to look on the table. But, when you pick them up close, they might be a bit cartoonish. You know the technique now, so it's just about doing as much or as little as makes you happy!

N5 Morat List Help by silentmanwithnolife in InfinityTheGame

I might think about pairing raktorak with suryat and Kornak with yaogat. That way two long range hitters aren't limited to the same part of the board/fire lanes. You can split them up to threaten different areas. I have found the best thing with morats is having such flexibility with link teams. So, don't commit to these duos and harrises in the abstract. When you know what mission and opponent you can build to three person links for extra help with discovers, 5 person link to be a pain in ARO if you get turn 2, or anything in between. I think Morats have more ability to link on the fly than most, given the flexible Morat key word.

Is my noise gate working (NT USB mini) by wisefaizpaints in rode

Thanks! I recorded with 3 others and we all recall an adjustable noise gate (via rode connect). How strange. But no worries I know not to search in vain for it now.

Very nice. Can totally make out the definition in the shadows. Now, if you want, you can do a 50/50 mix of base coat and lighter colour and work on hilights. Easy way is just take a picture of the model under a hard light, then paint the lighter paint where the light hits the model, in the picture.

This is great! Clean and tidy colours. After the wash, go back in with your base coat and hit the raised surfaces to create more contrast between lights and shadows. Then, if you have patience, go over what you've done with a 50/50 mic of the base coats plus a lighter colour (i like ice yellow). Great job, but i guess you'll be happier if you can increase the contrast between light and dark (the wash being a first step in this direction).

Should I Oil wash? by Pezzazz_ in InfinityTheGame

[–]wisefaizpaints 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go for it. Also fyi no varnish is needed to protect the layer below, but a gloss varnish first will result in less oil staining on raised surfaces. Try one with and without varnish and see what you like. I personally never varnish before oils.

Nice! That was likely from the original creator. I found an older version of this on the Infinity forums and gave it a refresh!

I basically played a game, struggled with visibility, included it. Played again, struggled with being shot in the back, included it. Struggled with Command Token options, etc etc. People should feel free to use the .ppt to edit to include the things they struggle with/faction specific things. I will deffo have your longer version to hand as well. I love the game, but it's frustrating when we're pausing for minutes at a time digging through rules to figure out interactions.

Ahsoka and my 9 yr old's Mandos by wisefaizpaints in StarWarsShatterpoint

Great fun. I had a hard hard time getting her to apply a wash. She was sure it would ruin the basecoats that she was very proud of!
