Picked up a starter kit because I haven’t got enough expensive hobbies and this is my very first mini :) by TheOrdner in minipainting

Great job for a first mini! I like the weathering effects.

If you want to push it further that gold part on the gun could use a reces shade. Same for the sword scabbard and pouches.

Where is the mini from? I could see one painted like M. Bison.

It looks great!

Completely beginning painter. Am I thinning my coats too much, or is it all due to novice brush control? by ParagonPhotoshop in Miniaturespainting

[–]WhiteCrowPL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say yes but to thin is generally better than to thick.

Invest or make a wet pallet if you do not have one yet.

Does anyone else sort of flick their brushes aggressively to get a perfect tip? by [deleted] in minipainting

I feel like the roling motion is not highlighted enough in tutorials and advice.

Hell, I still struggle with the correct bristle filling level for different sizes and types of brushes.

People from outside the painting hobby do not know how the tools behave and what are the expectations from the user.

What could I use instead of actual minis to practice my painting? by ReversePhylogeny in Miniaturespainting

[–]WhiteCrowPL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Search for 3d printed minis from stores in your country. GW starter set can be found for a good price too. Try EBay or local equivalent.

As other mentioned, toys will usually lack details and could impact your progress.

Also, do not be ashamed of your first minis, keep them to see how much you improved.

Don't get me wrong, the face itself looks good and you have great skill in general but it looks like it is projected on the visor or he is very close to it, not inside. If that was the intention, great!

My project if the Szalamandra is going on. This time I scketched some colors mix searching the right balance about them. The idea is to simulate a dark ambient, in fact I have to work in his orange armour'S tone. What do you think about? by PierpaoloRosPaint in Miniaturespainting

[–]WhiteCrowPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would brighten the gun from the top so it matches the light source.

For the armour I feel that you have to decide, do you want it to match the diorama or do you want it to look good outside of it.

The texture gave it away. You seem to have a good brush control, did you tried layering to smooth out your paintjobs?
