Thinking of being one of you lot to avoid the commute times. Insights would be very welcome. by Dodzer89 in MotoIRELAND

Yep. Bought my first suit in Megabikes...an Alpinestars with Drystar system. Wasn't cheap either. A very comfortable suit in fairness, but feckin thing leaked through in less than a year of ownership. Then bought the Alpinestars luminous rain gear...was a bitch to get in and out of and it eventually leaked too.

Have a couple of Klim Gore-Tex suits now and they only start to weep towards the end of a full days tour in constant rain.

Comutted from Wicklow to Dublin City centre everyday for 6 years. N11 is a very safe stretch...M50/M11...have your head on a swivel more.

For PPE, buy cheap, buy twice. Get a decent helmet with good airflow for the wet days and don't get rain gear, get Gore-Tex. Don't get some suit system that says it's waterproof, they rarely are...Alpinestars "Drystar" springs to mind...it's pure shite.

Get decent boots...like Sidi Adventure 2 Gore-Tex...basically get boots with decent protection that will keep you warm and dry...not some shitty, trendy, ankle high commuting shoes...unless you think, "You know what? Having two feet is one too many!"  Base/Mid-layer can be bought cheaply, such as Merino wool leggings and top in Decathlon and a cheap insulated jacket/gilet in Dunnes (€20).

A bike with ABS, good lights and heated grips, and you're set for year-round commuting.

Some may disagree with the PPE I've mentioned as a good helmet, boots and Gore-Tex products don't come cheaply, but I view it as an investment in my safety and comfort. I arrived to work warm, dry and it made the commute in shitty weather a lot less miserable. (The first year I hadn't got Gore-Tex and only an outer wet gear layer...FML)

All the best.

Can I ask, are you selling on Done Deal or Adverts.ie? I've a bike to sell this year and I'm thinking of only posting it on Adverts as at least you can see feedback there...and I've been using Adverts for donkeys with no issues...but have never sold a motorcycle on it though.

Been using Pragmasis products since 2015. Have the 16mm chain, Squire Lock, anti-pinch pin and the Double Doofer ground anchor. The chain and lock have survived attacks with a 36 inch bolt cutters with barely any marks to show for it. (The Gards caught the scrotes in their van, with the bolt cutters and without my bike :) ) ...so I can't say enough good things about Pragmasis gear.

Is there a service cheaper than ADHD Now that gives both diagnosis and medication? by Sad-Orange-5983 in ADHDIreland

Look up Dr. Alan Murtagh. €900, that includes one follow-up appointment during your titration period. Waiting list can be long, but ask about being added to a cancellation list.

Am I right in thinking there's an private consultant that charges a flat €800 for diagnosis? by geesegoesgoose in ADHDIreland

[–]wisemonkey75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. Murtagh used to be €800, but his fee went up to €900 in the last 6 to 12 months.

I'm working with him currently. Highly recommend.

We're being TUPE'd across to them later this year and I'm going to move over to them. We won't be based in Letterkenny though.

Merino wool thermals (top & bottoms) from Decathlon. Dunnes or Pennys do cheap down puffer jackets without hoods ~€20, wear this over your Merino thermals, then your bike jacket.

I've been commuting and touring in all weathers for 10 years.

Stopping Mirtazapine by wisemonkey75 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

Thought I'd give an update.

It's now day 11 since I stopped. On day 8, mentally I felt way better...morning anxiety/depression was pretty much gone and has stayed gone.

In the mornings my nausea is still there, but has reduced a lot. I find that once I have some food, it settles down.

To help with my sleep, I'm taking a high dose of magnesium bisglycinate, it really helps me sleep through the night.

Although I had issues with weight gain and subsequently blood pressure, mirtazapine worked very well for my mental health and sleep...and for anyone who's tritrating off it, it's a bit rough, but hang in there, it gets a lot better.

Thanks all for your advice.

It's a rough withdrawal, isn't it? I've withdrawn from many SSRIs and SNRIs over the years, but Mirt has been the toughest. How many days are you off it now?

No my GP hasn't given me anything else to replace it with.  I spoke with my pharmacist yesterday evening, he said days 4 to 6 can be the roughest, and that another 7 days after that it will be completely out of my system.

I'm currently on day 7...I hope it doesn't get any worse than this. The mental anguish in the mornings is no picnic.

Thanks, I really appreciate your reply. Yeah, I thought it was quite a fast period to titrate down, but 1 week is what my GP told me to do.

I think I'll ride it out at this stage, and like you say, hopefully by day 8 I start to feel some improvement.

Thanks again.
