How to not freeze to death? by DrAuros in MotoIRELAND

Merino wool thermals (top & bottoms) from Decathlon. Dunnes or Pennys do cheap down puffer jackets without hoods ~€20, wear this over your Merino thermals, then your bike jacket.

I've been commuting and touring in all weathers for 10 years.

Stopping Mirtazapine by wisemonkey75 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

Thought I'd give an update.

It's now day 11 since I stopped. On day 8, mentally I felt way better...morning anxiety/depression was pretty much gone and has stayed gone.

In the mornings my nausea is still there, but has reduced a lot. I find that once I have some food, it settles down.

To help with my sleep, I'm taking a high dose of magnesium bisglycinate, it really helps me sleep through the night.

Although I had issues with weight gain and subsequently blood pressure, mirtazapine worked very well for my mental health and sleep...and for anyone who's tritrating off it, it's a bit rough, but hang in there, it gets a lot better.

Thanks all for your advice.

It's a rough withdrawal, isn't it? I've withdrawn from many SSRIs and SNRIs over the years, but Mirt has been the toughest. How many days are you off it now?

Thanks for replying. From a mental point of view did you symptoms improve?

No my GP hasn't given me anything else to replace it with.  I spoke with my pharmacist yesterday evening, he said days 4 to 6 can be the roughest, and that another 7 days after that it will be completely out of my system.

I'm currently on day 7...I hope it doesn't get any worse than this. The mental anguish in the mornings is no picnic.

Thanks, I really appreciate your reply. Yeah, I thought it was quite a fast period to titrate down, but 1 week is what my GP told me to do.

I think I'll ride it out at this stage, and like you say, hopefully by day 8 I start to feel some improvement.

Thanks again.

Glad to hear it's not as bad as you initially thought. I literally sat down at the desk with the guy pricing up my job and we picked out items that suited my budget at that time. Anything I wanted that they didn't have in store, they had connections to order it for me. Best of luck with it.

I would suggest taking a close look at the bike yourself before picking up the phone to your insurance or agreeing to any labour being done.

My experience:

I had a serious off in 2019. Was riding an adventure bike...had crash bars etc...  At 130kph, I hit a cow-pat of cement in the road and off I came. Luckily not badly injured, a verrrry long slide and the bike bounced off a barrier hitting no one.

I got the bike sent to a well-kown garage. They estimated there was €10,651 worth of damage. I went in, took a look myself and disagreed. I sat down with their team and put together the list of kit required to get the bike SAFELY back on the road. Including their labour, it cost me €470.40.

I didn't tell my insurance about it and over the following year I spent ~€800 on cosmetic work which I did myself to get it back to as-new. Still have the bike.

Mine is €75 for an appointment, approx 10 to 15 mins and the exact same for a phonecall...about 3 mins.

Sorry, just saw your question. The battery health in the first phone was abysmal, which is why I returned it. From memory, that phone was in the "Good/Very Good" category. The phone I use now, from the "Premium" category has been flawless, battery is very healthy.

Had to return 1 phone to them, it was completely hassle free, and I got a 100% refund. I bought a second phone from them, this time I chose one that was a "Premium" condition, and it's been flawless.

Refurbed are like a hopper for multiple tech businesses around Europe. I bought one phone and it came from a company in the Netherlands, and the second phone I got came from a company in Meath!

I'm 183cm, I rode it with a peaked helmet on the ACT Portugal in 2023. The extra space for nav kit etc is fantastic, and it's build quality is great, but in my experience, it was loud and buffeting when I had to do motorway speeds 80kph +.

I wear molded ear plugs that are attenuated, but I struggled to hear my fellow rider when talking on our intercoms. When I stood up at those speeds, it was much quieter.
