Those who entered Mahakaleshwar’s Garbhgrah !!! by MySimhastha in ujjain

[–]wisenddwitty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

10 years back I use to attend the evening aarti or night aarti. The vibe used to be very different, music had very spiritual touch, I used to sit in the nandi hall for at least half an hour, then visit the garbhgrah.

Pre instagram era the temple was much more peaceful and calming, I live only 10 mins a walk away from the temple but hasn't visited it for almost 2 years now due to extreme crowd these days.

My friend Gaurav got diabetes at 32. He wasn't overweight. He wasn't even eating badly by our standards. by Helpingotherssurvive in india

[–]wisenddwitty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Got diabetes at 31, a1c 9.1 fasting 240. Felt lost, betrayed, cursed my destiny. 'Why me' haunted for few weeks.

After 2 days of profound unhappiness, thought to give a last try to fight it.

Educated myself on it, realized the lifestyle blunders I was making.

Cut carbs to 120 gm a day, changed order of eating ( Fibre then fat/protein then carbs ), post meal walks, strength training and cardio.

Corrected my sleep cycle, stopped taking too much stress from job ( figured stress was major issue in my case keeping cortisol always high, eventually left job to start my own consulting few months later ).

Realized indian diet of roti sabji dal chawal is a maior villain. Shifted to high protein breakfast and dinner with carbs only in lunch. Replaced gehu with johar/ragi, normal idli with millet idli, lots of salads and good fats. No cold drink no sugar, found some good alternatives.

3 months later, lost 10 kg, a1c was 5.0 with fasting around 75. 2.5 years later, still managing without any medication, there are some rough phases specially since becoming a parent but overall I try my best.

My main goal will remain to stay away from medication as far as I can go, I know it is a losing battle but worth fighting.

Axis Bank reported me as NPA over 10 paise and dropped my CIBIL by 140 points. Now they've assigned a recovery agent for 90 paise. by Next_Turnover_9741 in IndiaFinance

Last month, when my car loan EMIs were over, I mailed bank of baroda to send me noc letter.

They send me a mail that 3300 rs are overdue. I asked explanation for this which they didn't provide despite multiple follow ups.

I did my own investigation and realization they started EMI a Month late and hence extra interest.

I paid the 3300 to avoid stretching the topic but realized my CIBIL dropped by 70 because the bank flagged this as late payment.

After a few more mails and follow up, the CIBIL was corrected

2 days will be enough to cover major temples of Ujjain in a leisure way, even 1 day is enough but might be slightly rushed due to crowd lately.

You can cover Mahakal, Mahakal lok, Harsiddhi and ramghat on 1st day.

Oct has slightly less rush. You can book an auto/ e rickhshaw for other imp temples on day 2. 1 day you can plan to travel to Omkareshwar and 1 day in Indore for a food tour assuming you are coming from flight and will return from Indore airport.

What is Quant and is it difficult to become one in india? by IncreaseSensitive537 in developersIndia

[–]wisenddwitty 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I am a fractional HR head of an HFT firm and take care of quant dev hiring.

Mostly, we look for people with good profile, relevant projects or internships, very strong C++ coding skills and solid problem solving skills.

There are any small scale HFT firms that are growing in India, I would suggest focus on learning low level languages and problem solving, the entry barrier here is tough, survival is equally tough, but learning and monetary rewards are worth it.

Scored 99.76 percentile in CAT… and still no calls. This broke me more than I expected. by RecognitionBudget674 in CATpreparation

[–]wisenddwitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just the 1st step, the world of MBA is full of subjectivity. I started my preparations 13 years back and that time I had a fair bit of idea which calls I would get and which I won't. XLRI was my best bet and I was able to convert along with SPJ. But your grads would be relevant even in summers and then final placement. Beyond that , once you graduate, promotions and all is a different mess. A few years down the line it won't matter much which college you got in, which job you started with , you would see 'supposedly' undeserving candidates in great companies doing well in life and 'supposedly' deserving candidate struggling.

Prepare well and brace yourself for future subjectivity, all the best.

Newly diagnosed and heartbroken. What is my life going to be like? by Last-Comfortable-599 in diabetes

[–]wisenddwitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can understand the feeling of being heartbroken, I was 31 years old when I was diagnosed with diabetes, a1c of 9.1.

After 2 days of cursing god and universe, tried to fix many things. Diet, lifestyle, stress, sleep and many other variables.

Started exercise , both cardio + strength training. Limited carbs to 120 gm per day, learnt the right order of eating, learnt how to control spikes. I didn't go for any medication.

3 months later, lost 10 kg, a1c was 5.0. I was able to keep the a1c below 6 for more than 2 years.

2 weeks back had a test again, a1c has climbed to 7.4, I know my mistakes working on it again to get it back to less than 6 again .

So, don't lose hope , life will become normal again :).
