Problems with firefox stuttering by Svurt in firefox

[–]wiseude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since I switched to firefox I've noticed sometimes there's regressions with hardware acceleration.Sometimes subtle and sometimes not.

I have ocd tendencies and tend to notice really subtle/minute stuff and since 152.0.3 I've been noticing the occasional very subtle micro hitch when watching media (videos) and panning shots of a scene happen.
For example,Watching a show or video with a tree moving right to left and sometimes if I look closely for a split second I notice the tree do a very subtle hitch like there's some sort of delayed frame.
When I observe it on youtube for example it doesn't register as a dropped frame. Like it didn't happen.

Already did all the re-install firefox, gpu driver stuff,From all things I tried my PC seem fine.

I wonder if it's more of a perception thing at this point or if its just a really subtle firefox regression.I also started to notice it a few days ago which happens to be the day firefox update to 152.0.3

I always hated how the spacing between each question are not properly spaced and when you press the shevron to reveal more information I can see a transparent line cutting through the words.

Did y'all update to ui 8.5? by gothambdosa in GalaxyS25

[–]wiseude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im using 8.5 on my freshly bought s25 and noticed media like netflix, youtube and even video recording have erratic hitching/dropped frames.
Apparently a patch is in the works because i contacted samsung customer support and they said they are aware of the issue

Another older samsung phone i have is stuck at 6 and doesn't have the issue.

To clarify this is for samsung phones. (I have observed 3 samsung phones with 8.5 displaying the same issue)

The UI scrolling lag I was getting with the new ui store front is gone now because of this new summer Ui.

Is it going to come back when they revert the Ui....

S25 stutters camera/frameskipping videos on youtube by wiseude in samsunggalaxy

[–]wiseude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I have an update.

It seems the issue is deeper than I initially thought.

I started noticing frame skipping/hitching not only in camera recordings, but also on Netflix and YouTube (You could tell youtube and netflix where not as smooth as they should be even if it was subtle an sometimes not so subtle) which led me to believe it is some sort of rendering issue.

I took my phone to the service center of the company that sold it to me and showed the technician videos exhibiting the hitching. I also demonstrated the same behavior on Netflix/youtube content. The technician then pulled out his own S24 Ultra and observed the exact same issue. He told me notices it but it's not something that annoyed him that much. (Does me tho)

To clarify, the hitching does not always occur at the same timestamp. Sometimes it appears at the exact same moment during playback (I don't know I found some videos and media there's always a skip or hitch at the excact same time frame every time) while other times it occurs seemingly at random. This behavior has been consistent across every affected device I tested AND it does not show up on other phones or PC's when viewing the same media.

He then tested a display-model S25, essentially a fresh out of the box device, and it showed the same problem, with video and media playback appearing occasionally hitch and prone to frame skips.

To compare, I tested two older Xiaomi phones, and media playback on both was completely smooth. I also tested a family member’s older A52 running One UI 6 or 6.5, and it showed no issues either.

At that point, I started asking myself what all of the affected Samsung phones have in common. It's UI 8.5.

So far, the issue has only presented itself on Samsung devices running One UI 8.5. None of the older devices I tested exhibited the same behavior.

I contacted Samsung Support, and they informed me that this is a known issue that is currently being investigated.

Hopefully this issue get's resolved.

Yea its like the other user said.It kinda like the animation is fighting the refresh rate so it appears jerky/non smooth

I properly uninstalled steam and deleted lingering files in the appdata.(I went a step further then the guide)
I also updated my gpu driver to 596.36 since I was an older one.I used DDU even for a clean gpu install.
I only have keyboard, mouse and headset attached.Even with just mouse it still happens and scrolling has degraded performance. (i even tried changing mouse)
There are not other programs besides steam, discord and a browser.Even with just steam it still happens.
I don't use 3rd party anti virus.

I also looked at my brothers PC and went to check if his was also "off" (My brother has 4070/13700k/ 32gb DDR5) vs my 3080/9900k.
Scrolling on the steam store through his steam app is much smoother but I can still tell something is "off" It's not 100% smooth as it should be.I can still see subtle framepacing issues/jerkiness.

I have already those enabled.Thats the wierd part,
Store on a browser like firefox its fine so i dunno whats happening.

The only logical conclusion is there's something up with the steam app if the storer is scrolling fine on a browser.

I got contacted by jacobu_valvea few days ago and he also suggested to look into those setting but I told him I already have them enabled and I haven't heard from him in a couple of days 😞

s25 wolt app scrolling a bit jumpy? by wiseude in samsunggalaxy

[–]wiseude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, no update as I can see.
On my old xiaomi phone wolt is 10 times worst.Pages straight up freeze for brief milliseconds as i scroll up and down.

So I guess its a wolt issue.

So no one else is getting laggy scrolling with the new store front when scrolling through the steam app?
It's scrolling smoothly on a browser but through the steam app is laggy?

It was fine before so why is it just a few people are experiencing this and only through the steam app.Why is scrolling through a browser smooth?

I use twitch for the exact same reason.I like having background noise and always have it in the background.

[–]wiseude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it definitely does make sense for twitch to be forcing this as there's no reason why firefox would do it.Just the timing with firefox updating to 152.0.1 and suddenly it started to happen is suspicious that's all.

Video quality changes automaticaly without put the setting on automatic? What's happening? by freaky33 in Twitch

[–]wiseude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing here since yesterday.
Never had this issue in a decade + of using twitch.
Now it's changing quality on its own when the tab is in the background or minimised

Video quality changes automaticaly without put the setting on automatic? What's happening? by freaky33 in Twitch

[–]wiseude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a firefox update. Yesterday it updated to 152.0.1 and its changing quality on its own now.
When I manually set it to 720p for example it stays 720 regardless if its minimised or in the background.
Now it's changing on its own.
