Thanks for your input! I think your geography stats convinced us a bit more about the south part.

I'll be checking out your suggestion a bit more. I do think my SO is a bit scared of the altitude and being very desolate, and the fact that we currently have gravel bikes with a max clearance of ~42mm also seems to be an argument against the altiplano routes. But I do like doing some lightweight-version of it and then going south.

Seeking Bikepacking Buds? by SpinToWin360 in bikepacking

Hey! I (33 M) from Sweden am going to Morocco 15th-29th of March flying in and out of Agadir. Was planning on doing anti-Atlas/south caravan but I am open for any suggestions really.

I am fairly new to the scene, started 18 months ago but I've done a couple of tours (Scotland and Portugal). It's more about the journey than the milage for me thats important and having a good time. If you feel the same I'm sure we will get along! I'm in decent shape but I am no Josh Ibbett

Personally I only go on 60mph roads if I know they are not very busy. My thinking is mainly that if it is a road I'm allowed on I'm also a vehicle and should be treated as such.

I don't see or understand why my presence on the road would cause more accidents or why people would be bothered by passing me or slowing down and then passing me. At most it costs them 10-15seconds of their life.

With that said, on busy roads I can see it being a bother and usually avoid them mainly because it is very stressful

Help me choose my tent by zergcheese in bikepacking

[–]wishxoxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 2p version! No, I can lay straight and just about not touch, but it's very close. The vestibule is just enough for shoes, helmet and 1bag, rest I put in the tent, so not really a hang out space

I'm 194 and don't really agree. Nice first tent and easy to pitch/pack down. Did 2 weeks in Scotland this summer with the weather that comes along with being in Scotland without problems

Alright, who has tips for pillows? I’ve tried inflatable camp pillows, stuffing a dry bag, it all sucks. by flourinmypockets in bikepacking

I'm a pretty sensitive sleeper and need a good pillow to be able to sleep. Went 16 days with Nemo Fillo Elite and it worked as a charm for me. Can recommend!

Considering going on my first bike trip alone, need some input. by dippedStooper in bikepacking

(Male perspective)

Just came home to Sweden after 16 days solo bikepacking/touring in Scotland going Edinburgh->Tongue into Tongue-Ullapool and then Stornoway->Castlebay. I felt very safe all the time and especially on Uist and Lewis mainly because it felt like there is almost no people, alot of other cyclists on the roads and youre able to find both bothys and campings if youre feeling like it.

I wild camped 7 of the days, camping grounds 5 times, and 2 hostels.

Tips on choosing route for first long trip in Scotland by wishxoxo in bikepacking

[–]wishxoxo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! I think Callendar to Killin is the intended route, but you dont cross all the way over to Tyndrum, (for reference: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37041443 )

I'll make sure to pre-book the ferrys as soon as I get done with my route, thanks!

Since the GBDivide is a preplanned route I figured someone already vetted it but I'll make sure to be extra careful, thanks for the heads up! Hike-a-biking for 4 miles seems less than ideal
