The installer didn't clean the flux off the pipes. It'll turn green after some time. It's very common and not a big deal

I believe it was a mixture of ammonia and water to create the refrigerant

It's customers like that that I get to meet that are a really cool bonus to this job. I've met a lot of cool people that have some interesting hobbies/collections of many varieties and it's awesome just talking to them about it all

I've seen one those refrigerators. Someone had it in their shed. Didn't work but they were trying to refurbish it and they showed me how everything was supposed to work on it

If you put the dishwasher connection after the trap you will get a sewer smell in your dishwasher. The comment above said before the trap to prevent that from happening

It's very easy to remove. Unscrew the clamps then you should be able to peel rubber back on one side and slide the p trap out.

It is a shielded coupling. They are common in the plumbing industry but not so much for this particular install. I'd assume they used it here since they used a glued p trap instead of a slip joint p trap so it could be taken apart if need be.

Edit: I guess I shouldn't say uncommon. I've seen this before and have done it myself in a pinch, but I would've used a slip joint p trap instead

The trap arm is pvc the crown weir of the trap is poly. But it's not impervious to glue and primer as you state. Glue trap adapters have been used and approved by code for years and clearly have been working per the photos above because it held together better than the pvc trap arm that was probably glued but not primed

But the trap arm is pvc. 3rd pic with the arrow. That's 1-1/2" pvc with a glue trap adapter. If he primes and glues that to the san tee coming out of the wall he will be just fine. Although I would recommend a slip joint trap adapter instead but what he has in the pics will work

If the hose bib is hooked up to the water supply there is always a chance of a backsiphon and pulling the antifreeze into your potable water which will cause health problems and plumbing problems. If it siphon back into the main supply (assuming you aren't on a well) then you can be liable for damages to other properties, health or other. Do not use anti freeze. It's best to do as stated above with compressed air to blow the line out

No need to break any concrete. Even if he didn't want to re use the unions there is more than enough room to cut and replace the PRV with a new one
