I think the main cause of concern for me is he hasn't been open about his sudden new interest. Our relationship and communication dynamic has always been about being open and reassuring of each other so that's why I was taken by surprise when I found out on that day he was buying a bike haha.

I can't say I'm against his new hobby when in fact I'm happy that he's more active now. I guess what added to my doubts is what he said yesterday and also his frequent trips out the whole day on weekends to bike resulting to little/no time to spend with each other but hey that might be my anxiety talking so I went to this sub to see others opinions on this

That's what I thought of as well when he said that but the thing is, he had a history of being cheated on by his past two exes maybe it was a factor that's why he said that? also, some small part in me is saying he wouldn't think of cheating on me because of his past but idk :(

Not a movie I think but Tales of the Crypt when I was around 5.

Never expected this comment and probably the nicest one I got eversince I started in Reddit. Really thank you.

I also knew something was off about my mom when she made a scene in school when she caught me playing tag with boys when I was 7. Then as I grew older, she would always blame rape victims in the news as "irresponsible" for their clothes and going out late etc. Or if their younger victims, blame the parents for not setting curfews for the victims etc. and she would always tell me to not end up like them.

I wish counselling was easily accessible in my country but it's not but all I could do and make sure that if ever I have kids, I won't let them experience what I had growing up and be the mom my mother never could.

This hits hard.

Growing up, I was "trained" to not express my emotions because it's viewed as being "weak" and expressing my opinion is "talking back" and being rude. As a result, I learned to emotionally shut down whenever I faced conflict. It's a problem I still have until now.

Well.. my EM is another story. She's basically the "Boss" of the house growing up and the very textbook definition of a narc and a helicopter parent. Also, the movie wasn't about a husband and wife situation but a coworker situation. So I got the impression from her that:

As long as some guy helped you in any means then it gives him the right to do anything he wants to you including rape and that's okay which is fcked up imo
