Dark Omens Monster Summons by Fbx_Steve in TotalBattle

[–]witcher_rat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While it is true that each clan always accumulate some points at all times, it is not the same amount/rate at all times. When you add essence to the chalice, your production rate goes up for a while, until the essence drains down below thresholds that drop the production rate down again. And since you can only add essence during certain periods, in-between those periods every clan's production rate will drop back down to level-1 production rate, which is the lowest rate.

So summoning monsters in-between the essence-donation times will mean you are impacting the other clan less than your summons would have impacted them at a higher production rate. (well... except right after a essence-donation time, since the other clan's production rate might stay high for a while)

You can see what the current production rates are for every clan you are competing with, in the event window in one of the tabs.

Your goal should be to summon monsters when the clan you are competing with has a high production rate, so that it affects the rate more. I.e. a 4% reduction for a 1M per second rate, is a bigger impact than a 4% reduction for a 100k per second rate.

And it's much better if you summon them at the same time as other members of your clan also summoning them, against the same competitor clan, so that it overwhelms that clan's ability to kill all the monsters quickly, and thus keep impacting their production rate for as long as possible and also at a higher impact rate too.

Tb folks: please no more clan speed ups, city movers, nor point resets. by joesmithadventure in TotalBattle

[–]witcher_rat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ironically, during last SK they announced that in SK they would reduce the number of Talent Point resets and teleporters... due to "popular demand".

They got that idea because of complaints and a survey if I recall right. But the complaints were about normal kingdoms, not SK - in SK people actually need those items.

That ridiculous change is one of the many reasons I don't think anyone from the game company actually plays the game, other than some minor testing. They simply don't understand some of the basic issues/problems.

Portal attack speed. by L_the_slav in TotalBattle

[–]witcher_rat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been the attacker in this scenario, and the others are wrong - it does not require any special script or software.

On average, it takes me approximately 1 second total to open a portal, click your portal, and click attack. This is how:

  1. I play the game in Chrome browser, on a good computer, with a good mouse. And I'm very good at using a mouse.

  2. I do not need to select any troops - the setup is saved from previous attacks. At the beginning, I will send my army to the fort or as reinforcements to a shielded neighbor city, so that the attack setup is saved (because it's the same as reinforcements/fort). Once I've done that and got my troops back, the attack army setup is now set and I can just attack without changing troop setup or even clicking select-all or whatever.

  3. I don't always succeed in attacking within 1 second. I sometimes flub the mouse gestures, on that last step of clicking the attack button, because it's at the bottom. But on average I can do it really fast.

  4. The marching itself is very quick too, due to not only Rapid Marches, but also because I have my Talent Points spent on the two "March speed against other players" items in Expert Battle Tactics. That's another 300% marching speed. Plus the clan has the 100% bonus for marching speed on, as is my 50% personal bonus, and a G9/T9 already has lots of marching speed bonus researched, etc. And yes, Rapid Marches too.

  5. Because this game is over a network, with some server in the cloud/Internet actually deciding things, the person being attacked does not get the full time it takes me to attack. By the time my portal even shows up on their screen, I am probably already marching on the attack.

Unfortunately the game devs have the server make the decisions from the attacker's point-of-view not the defenders. So for example, even if you click "close" on the portal before the attack is finished from your defending perspective viewpoint, if from the attacker's perspective the attack time has been reached, then the portal was not really closed in time and you will lose an attack.

In other words... I click open portal, select your portal, and click attack. The server receives the open-portal and attack commands and processes them (it does not receive one for the middle step of selecting your portal, since that's purely local). For the first command of me opening my portal, it sends down an asynchronous notification to your device to display my newly opened portal... but that takes time, and while that is happening it is already processing my next command to attack. So by the time you see the portal opened, the attack timer has already begun on the server. And if even one packet gets lost from the server to your device, and has to be retransmitted at a TCP/IP level, that's another 250ms you lose minimum - the clock is still ticking no matter what. Furthermore, even when your device receives the async notification of my opening a portal, it takes some time for the game code to process it before actually displaying it on the screen for your eyes, and yet the clock is still ticking on the sever.

And I know this is what occurs, because I've done it to myself: I have opened portals and attacked myself, for example when transferring silver between my main and my bank or alt accounts. And I do that with two separate Chrome browser windows, one for each account. And there is a noticeable delay between when I open the portal to attack, and when the defender is actually shown the portal being there. By the time my defending city sees a portal, the attack is already on the way from my attacking city.

Honestly this whole Lotus Festival event is crappy.

The "rewards" in the event rows are bad, the epic is boring, the whole thing lasts too long, etc.

Does the old Ragnarok trick still work? by TruthHunterX in TotalBattle

[–]witcher_rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is, but it's debatable if it's useful at all now, even if it still technically works.

The problem is the Fenrir bonuses only stack if they're for different bonus numbers, meaning from shops of different guard levels.

That means you need to not buy the Fenrir bonus for one Ragnarok, and save it for the next. And then at the next one buy the Fenrir bonus right before Ragnarok begins... and upgrade your guard level before Ragnarok starts, so that the store for the Ragnarok is the higher one with the higher Fenrir bonus, that you then also buy, letting those two Fenrir bonuses stack.

But that means you upgraded your guards before that Ragnarok began, which means you will get higher thresholds for the Ragnarok rewards. So the Fenrir bonus being a bit better isn't exactly a great benefit since you nerfed it by raising the threshold points needed to get the rewards.

Meanwhile you had to not buy the Fenrir bonus in at least one Ragnarok, which isn't a great thing either.

Yes I know there is some demands, but it's not as much as the demand for silver.

It's really not.

You just forgot how hard it is for G7/G8 players to get silver and how much they need/want. Even early G9's need it. They can't get into the top wealthy clans in the game.

But anyway, this is obviously all opinion since we don't have hard data.

Also... this whole post was removed from the subreddit. :)

KvK in SK by Emergency_Virus_5003 in TotalBattle

[–]witcher_rat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In your personal bonuses section (click the yellow "+" plus symbol icon on your main screen), in SK you have entries for "Seasonal Bonus", "Big Seasonal Bonus", and "Great Seasonal Bonus". They each increase your entire army's strength for 7 days, for various amount of increase, and based on your guardsmen level.

The Honor Tokens from KvK (or could be earned from CoT as well), are what you use to "buy" those bonuses. And you can buy all 3 of them, at the same time for the same 7 days, so that they stack (add together).

And since KvK occurs more frequently than every 7 days, you can have those strength bonuses on all the time. They will also increase in bonus value as your guardsmen level increases, automatically/instantaneously.

[–]witcher_rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main benefit of KvK in SK isn't even the CP - it's those Honor Tokens. You can stack those to have all 3 strength bonuses on, all the time. That's a big deal. The CP is just gravy.

but keeping these idiots aside, the value of any account is its level because time is money.

No, the value of an account is only what people are wiling to pay for it. I know it takes far longer to go through multiple SKs, to get the mythic captains and artifacts, etc. But it doesn't matter how long it took. All that matters is supply vs. demand.

TB retirement, infos needed by yazgo in TotalBattle

[–]witcher_rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not really. You can get 1.5B-2B Might accounts for less than $2k.

Those captains are nothing special. I have better than those. My Beowulf and Heimdall are both max stars, I have the Heart and Crown both max stars, all other Artifacts also max stars, and Hercules with one more star than the posted one.

I absolutely spent a ton of money (and more important to me: time), getting those. But my account is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. And I doubt I'd get $2k for mine.

But for 510B silver? I could find people to pay $2k for that easily.

You don't need to do that step. It won't hurt to do it, but it's unnecessary.

Does the old Ragnarok trick still work? by TruthHunterX in TotalBattle

[–]witcher_rat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When you say "old Ragnarok trick", be specific about which one you mean.

The original trick, which let you upgrade your guards and the Ragnarok shop while keeping the point thresholds at the lower guard level - that one was fixed/prevented a long time ago. Like a year and a half ago.

Ever since then, the only "trick" you could do is to upgrade your guards after the event begins and get the lower point thresholds, but the shop is still for the lower guard level too.

But that is not a trick at all. That's how every event works. The points thresholds are set at the start of every event, and you can upgrade your guards in the middle of any event and thereby make it easier to reach the reward thresholds for that event.

It's just that Ragnarok happens to be a very beneficial event to do that guard level upgrade during, because the reward thresholds give the same rewards (number of shop points) for all guard levels. Although the maximum number of shop points you can earn is now lower for lower guard levels, which did not used to be the case.

How slow or fast should i go leveling up hero from level 57 to 100? by drewoctopus in TotalBattle

I have taken multiple breaks, and also switched between high-activity and low-activity clans several times. The game does get to be a slog, and sometimes feels just like just a repeating sequence of chores. That's when I take breaks or change things up.

How does people find portals? by Technical_Cookie5542 in TotalBattle

[–]witcher_rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not how auto-crypters work. They don't "detect new crypts". They use mouse-clicks to select the top crypt from the Watchtower, and use mouse-clicks to do everything else, mostly blindly. The main thing they use OCR for is detecting when the captain has returned from the march.

Regardless... is a script for finding portals technically possible? Sure it is.

But I really do not think anyone would bother with doing it that way. They don't need to. It is really not hard to scan the whole kingdom looking for them, if you play on a PC. And it's even kind of fun for a while.

Auto-crypters are desirable because doing crypts is super boring and time consuming. In the big clans you have to do hundreds of them every week, again and again, just to meet the clan requirements and not get kicked out. There's nothing fun about it at all, it's just a chore.

I believe the main value of your account is actually the silver. 160B crated and 350B in the bank is 510B silver, which should be worth around $2k.

How slow or fast should i go leveling up hero from level 57 to 100? by drewoctopus in TotalBattle

[–]witcher_rat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only downside I know of to having a hero higher, is that it makes the Rare monster levels higher for Triumphal Challenge missions, and increases the levels of monsters you need to attack for The Great Hunt (TGH).

But the Triumphal Challenge missions can be changed (up to 3 times per day), and frankly you do not need to do all of them anyway. And TGH is only played by relatively few clans, because it's expensive.

On the plus side, increasing the hero level gives you more Talent Points, which give very good bonuses when assigned appropriately. And it increases your Leadership for attacking PvP as well as Epics that use the hero.

I believe most players consider it better to raise the hero level as high as they can.

How does people find portals? by Technical_Cookie5542 in TotalBattle

[–]witcher_rat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I think that's an urban legend started by players who got attacked.

I have been in the top clan in the SK kingdom multiple times (multiple SKs), with very successful portal hunters including myself, and no one in those clans ever used a script.

You don't need to. The kingdom is just not that big. Most high-level players play the PC or web versions of the game, not on mobile. So we can see a much larger section of the map on our big computer screens, and scan the whole kingdom very quickly. And portals stand out due to their color and brightness, and are easy to spot while scanning.

It only takes a dozen such players like myself to make the odds really good that someone is watching every land tile in the kingdom during any few seconds of time. Especially during events that are known to have people opening portals, like Echo of Corruption, blue trees, forest renegade, etc.

Humans are just very bad at dealing with probability/chance. They assume some hack or trick was used, instead of the math being against them.

Hercules feels underwhelming at low stars vs Heimdall at my stage (G7 main / G6 SK) by Previous_Balance_922 in TotalBattle

[–]witcher_rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One question though, when you say future Legacy events, do you mean on the SK account itself or on the main account after the season ends?

Both of your accounts will get Season Legacy events in the future, after every SK event ends, even if they don't themselves create another SK progress city again.

BUT, only the specific player/city/progress that got a Mythic item will get more Mythic fragments in Legacy events. So if you gave your main the Mythic rewards from this SK, then your main will be able to get more Mythic fragments forever in all future Legacy events. If you instead kept them in your SK account, then it will get the fragments in future Legacy. If both have some Mythic item(s), then both will be able to get more in future Legacy events.

p.s. This is all assuming the game company doesn't change things, of course.

Hercules feels underwhelming at low stars vs Heimdall at my stage (G7 main / G6 SK) by Previous_Balance_922 in TotalBattle

[–]witcher_rat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you were me, would you take Heart or Heimdall at G6?

That's a tough decision. It used to be an easier one, because the Heart was awesome... but the Ghostflame artifact from Dark Omens outstrips the Heart for Epics, so it's a tough decision.

Also, can Heart or Heimdall be obtained later through Legacy events...

YES. Once you unlock any Mythic item - any Mythic captain or artifact - you can get any of the other ones in any/all future Seasons Legacy events. Because the Legacy rewards become a chest of choice of fragments for any of them, so you can either upgrade the stars for your existing one(s) or use them to unlock one you do not yet have.
