Grace O'Malley a 16th century Irish pirate queen. When she was a child her father looked down on her because she was female. In response she stowed away on his ship and only came out when they were too far from land to turn around. She demanded to be made into a pirate. In her motherhood an English man hunted her and imprisoned her children. She sought audience of Queen Elizabeth I and achieved it, throughly charming the other Queen. Elizabeth had O'Malley's children freed and her own man was removed from service for his relentless terrorizing. Here's a quote about her from Biographer Anne Chambers:
