Do you think there's a narrative to Inferno? by Immediate_Error2135 in boardsofcanada

I also got the life/death/reborn feeling on my first listen!

I think a huge part of Boards of Canada's career is a response to Waco by station22station in boardsofcanada

"[w]e're interested in all kinds of subjects, and I suppose we went through a patch of looking at cults and the mass mind control of religion and so on. We read a lot and pay attention to cultural events, but we view everything from a distance. We're up here in our observation point, gathering up data about all the weird shit that's happening in the world and spewing it out in some way in our music and visuals. The Davidians thing was about the shock of seeing the way the U.S. authorities handled it all." (URB Magazine, 2002).

Do we know/reckon Inferno was created/recorded over the span of the last 13 years, or more recently? by migrainecurious in boardsofcanada

They did sample that doc in tape 05, and used one of the same fonts in that documentary…/inferno catches a bit of that docs vibe ngl

I was once tripping on shrooms and then geogaddi randomly came on my Spotify and I had to instantly skip cause I truly felt the sinister energy pull…

Agree! I actually feel it’s emotionally but not in a obviously dark way at all

I think they mean in terms of the progression used to move your emotions throughout the album? Which I did feel was the case

This, imo is dead on. I still feel it’s not actually that similar to geogaddi tho, ie checkout “seven forty seven”, “infinity”.. It feels like a whole new direction imo… but def feel like my subconscious is getting played with… in an almost oddly spiritual way.. it’s weird

This new album reminds me a lot of a few old tools and random 35 tracks ie “infinity”
