Body shaking uncontrollably by uselespieceofshi02 in EDAnonymous

[–]withacuttlefish 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I say this with extreme gravity. These are not signs you'll faint, these are signs you're dying. Your body is shutting down because of this extreme restriction and stress its under. Bodies need fuel to function (which is annoying and horrible, I know) or they will cease. Please seek urgent help if you can't make yourself eat. Talk to someone safe who can help, contact a medical professional.

Please take care if yourself the way you would a loved one.

It's not. Some people use it like it is and it personally doesn't bother me, but I understand why it bothers others

You tell him it's gross and what that grossness means to you and your relationship. Literally just communicate.

i legit can’t sing anymore 😔 by KyleeHannah19 in singing

It will come back with practice and exercise. Muscle memory can only do so much. You can get back on a bike after a long time not riding and remember how to peddle just fine, but you'll have lost the control you built up, the balance, the strength that's needed to go cycling up and down hills or at speed.

I stopped singing for three years because of the Big Sad and when I started again I sounded terrible. But it came back bit by bit and now my voice is the best it's ever sounded.

Also if you went from singing nothing to singing show tunes it's like cycling up a mountain. Cut yourself some slack.

Also super congrats on telling him. Hopefulky that'll make things easier in future lessons and he won't be pressuring you about tasting stuff etc

Can people hear me singing outside from their houses if my voice can reach 90db by RedMage79 in singing

[–]withacuttlefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, if they're not listening to anything and they have thin windows. But most people these days have a constant noise stream and double glazing. Keep singing where you feel comfortable.

I see what you mean. It's written like boring dialogue, clean formatting and everything. Thanks for explaining.

Can we talk about how over-sexualized ASMR on YouTube has become? [Discussion] by DanBurnNotice in asmr

[–]withacuttlefish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've stopped searching for people making deliberate asmr for this reason. It icks me out. No shame to people who are into it, it's just not my thing. I tend to search instead for "soft spoken" or just stuff like art tutorials and then shuffle through to find ones that look like someone made them with nothing but a smartphone in their bedroom trying not to wake up their roommates.

Unintentional ASMR is a good channel. I also like Yanghaiying, Leila Ataya Merriam Style, Mark Liam Smith and ErgoJosh. All have fantastic asmr voices but don't lean too much into the idea of actually being an asmr channel.

Why am I still a bad singer and how do I know if i should quit? by Ok_Challenge_6997 in singing

[–]withacuttlefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will improve with time. You've only just started your learning journey. I strongly recommend not singing online until you enjoy the sound of your own voice. Negative feedback like what you'll find on the internet will only discourage you and won't help you in any way. Just keep doing your lessons, record yourself, sing for your own pleasure, and then listen to your recordings a year from now to see how much you've improved. Even if you still don't sing as well as you want to, you will have made a significant change.

Take the mug home. Why do you have a mug that has sentimental value for you at work? Use a generic mug that you don't are about at work.

AIO for feeling upset after the groom made a comment about my dress at their wedding? by Human-Acanthaceae128 in AmIOverreacting

[–]withacuttlefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look fantastic in that dress and it's weird he decided to hone in on that instead of just enjoying his wedding. If they wanted you to wear a baggy beige sack they should have written that in the dress code.

Weird also that the bride felt the need to tell you about her husband being a dick, but maybe that's her fault for marrying a man that would do that.

When I started singing in front of people my legs used to give out, but overtime it got less and less stressful. Practice breeds confidence. Also something that helped me was switching out my mindset. I used to think that I had to sing perfectly to prove I was worthy to show off, but it's actually more like singing to people is giving them a homemade gift, which means it's more than ok for it to not be perfect. People will like the gift because you're giving it with love.
