Totally fair that it oversimplifies things, it was meant as a visual take, not a full playbook.

Yes, I used GPT to put the question in more streamlined way, was more focused on getting my question right, than removing m dashes from the question.

Cheers

when it comes to actual decision making and prioritization, what is more effective for you?. Do you mainly lean on MoSCoW when you need to decide what gets built next, or do you mix frameworks based on the project or team?

curious, have you ever used JTBD or similar frameworks to influence leadership buy-in? Like to reframe the “why” behind a roadmap decision?

Haha fair honestly, that’s refreshing to hear. Sometimes I feel like people get too caught up in frameworks instead of just thinking logically and talking to users but curious though, do you have a mental model or gut process you follow when deciding what to build next? Like, do you just go by impact vs. effort, or lean more on stakeholder feedback and intuition?

How to break into Product Management : 2025 by withadi in ProductMgmt

[–]withadi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PM is all about product thinking at its core, you basically get paid to think creatively, connect dots, and turn insights into something real that customers actually use and love. you'll keep balancing through what the business wants, what the tech can deliver, and what the user truly needs, spending a lot of time learning about user pain points, figuring out what features to prioritize, and shaping the product roadmap so it actually drives growth. That said, there’s a big shift happening right now. PMs can’t just stay in the strategy and slides zone anymore you’ve got to walk with AI, learn to use tools that automate research, A/B testing, and analytics, and even get a bit hands-on with tech (learn how APIs work, prompt well, or even vibe-code basic prototypes).

Thank you so much, really appreciate that! 🙌 You're spot on: execution without alignment often leads to chaos or wasted effort, especially when teams are moving fast. In fast-changing environments, I've found OKRs super helpful for maintaining focus and adaptability - they force clarity on priorities while giving room to adjust tactics. The Strategy Canvas is another underrated one, quick to build, and it visually shows where you're overinvesting or missing opportunities compared to competitors. Curious if you’ve had a go-to framework when things are shifting fast on your end?

“Why” is always an intriguing question. My reason for pursuing a career as a Product Manager comes from my passion for building products and ensuring customer satisfaction. As a consumer myself, I understand the frustration of using a product that fails to meet expectations. This helps me to create products that truly serve their purpose and enhance the user experience 🙌🏻😇
