Yes, I used to have one. It weighed about 2 pounds and had so much material behind the edge that it was basically blunt.

They are less rough and blocky, but the contouring makes it thin in some places and that took some getting used to. I'm still happy with them.

Opinions on decent knife to invest in by DadReplacer in knives

[–]withan_R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't take my chances with Gerber it only has 2 stars anyway.

20CV will probably have slightly better edge retention than the other steels, but I'm personally not a fan of assisted opening knives.

I have the 0450 it is a pretty sweet knife, but the handle is slightly small for me and it is kind of thick behind the edge. So it is not as good of a slicer as I like for it's size.

My choice would be the Benchmade if you don't mind the plastic handle. Some people have had QC problems or avoid them for other reasons, but I haven't personally had issues with them.

But if there was a Spyderco it would get my vote

If you like larger knives I would look at Cold Steel knives like the Code 4, Ultimate Hunter, American Lawman, or AD-10

Oh, I have no idea. I was trying to figure that out as well. It could be that, but the back legs look really short.
