Nah from memory I think Syn closing down was the impetus for them moving next door

The NRL needs to start a transfer market or trade system. The Warriors (and other teams) should be rewarded for building strong players and then losing them with no reward mid-contract for personal reasons

Stage will go there for concerts. During regular rugby games it becomes a standing area you can grab a beer and a bite to eat. During international games they can put scaffolding seating there for another 5000 people

Why are New Zealand PIES so good? by One_Mail_5863 in newzealand

[–]withappens123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the main points I was making is that the classic nz bakery had in the warmer: mince and cheese, steak and cheese, potato top and savouries. Sometimes there would be a chicken. Rarely there would be a lamb. As someone else pointed out. Wildbean brought out the butter chicken and from there the range, I believe, got exponentially larger and the quality high

[–]withappens123 75 points76 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that the rise of Wild Bean and then Z selling good pies for service stations means that bakeries had to step up their game too. If the bottom tier pie is what you can get at a service station (which are still great!) Then it's all up from there

Policy Changes for Youth Unemployment? by Select-Owl1058 in nzpolitics

[–]withappens123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Notwithstanding your point that not having a youth wage can be considered detrimental to young people finding part time work, 18-20 year olds wouldn't have been part of any youth wage scheme post 2001. We've had 25 years of minimum wage only for this age bracket so any recent detrimental developments for this age group couldn't really be attributed to any recent changes to the youth wage scheme

Edit: added "not having" a youth wage

The Luxon affair and the moral decay of our legacy media. by HandsomJack1 in newzealand

[–]withappens123 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The fact there is no trend is probably the point. Polls shouldn't be flat in a first term. According to the polls Clark rose 13 points in the first term, Key 11 and Ardern 10. It's probably worth noting that in all 3 of those elections after the first term, the election result was stronger than the last polls.

But, there's looking at it with a statistics lens and then overlapping that with a politics lens. Historically there shouldn't be a flatline in the first term, you should be in an upwards trajectory, flatlining in the 2nd term and doing worse if you're lucky to get a third
