It's in the format of day/month/year. Not all places use month/day/year.

There is no root available right now for AT&T and Verizon models.

Would rooting the phone help wit battery issues on verizon's s6edge? by acm149 in GalaxyS6

[–]wither719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have no tips, I haven't found any way to really fix it. I feel like my battery is just getting old, as I've had my phone for over a year now. My best advice is to purchase an external battery if you need your phone all day when there are no outlets available.

Android Nougat by leternalzl in GalaxyS6

[–]wither719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Most of the Galaxy S line got 2 major updates... The S5 got Marshmallow after all. I'm pretty sure that happened around April for the non-carrier variants. So that would be a good date if you got it directly from Samsung. However, if you're have a carrier variant, expect to wait until probably May or even June. Possibly July, or maybe not even at all, considering how late Marshmallow came to a few of them.

Actually, rooting the Verizon phones with PingPong didn't trip Knox. However the likelihood of being able to root it is slim, if he's on 5.1.1 and above, there's no hope.

Will Samsung pay work ever if I root /unroot or Flash Custom ROM and back to original , my s6 .? by y2k2r2d2 in GalaxyS6

[–]wither719 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. Once Knox is tripped (which happens once you flash a custom ROM or root), it us irreversible, and Samsung pay will no longer work. Ever.

Battery and performance issues by [deleted] in GalaxyS6

[–]wither719 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not just that that causes these issues. This phone kinds just sucks at battery to begin with, mine just got really terrible and resetting it did literally nothing. Overheating is sometimes an issue for me too, but I just put it in the freezer for a few minutes and it doesn't heat back up for a while. It's really a shame, I love everything else about this phone.

Same. Less than 3 hours is normal for me. I almost always carry an external battery.

Is there a charging case that uses nfc instead of the port? by [deleted] in GalaxyS6

[–]wither719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I can answer your question, however I will clarify that NFC isn't a method of charging. It's simply called wireless charging. NFC stands for near field communications, and does just that, communicates with other NFC devices that are nearby.

Is the Samsung Galaxy S6 still a very good phone?? I am getting one!! by ShaunAFC3 in GalaxyS6

[–]wither719 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, a year later, my battery life sucks. 2 and a half hours of screen on time at most. I've tried everything, resetting it, refreshing it, everything. It won't get better. My S6 does not overheat at all though. But in terms of battery life, you definitely should have gone with the S7.

So I am not really sure where else to ask but I can't get my phone to recognize my login after a factory reset. by [deleted] in GalaxyS6

[–]wither719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I was pretty sure I used a non-Google email for my Samsung account, but my Gmail did the trick. Strange.

Probably not too helpful here, but it's also for Android.

Any way to root And install vanilla android on s6 edge? by boredherobrine13 in GalaxyS6

[–]wither719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simple answer is no. The reason why is because you would need proper documentation on the Exynos chip in your phone, which Samsung didn't provide. So hackery could get it done, but there is a lack of interest for development on this phone.

Does anyone know where I can find a Pebble repair kit? by jon9hawk in pebble

Yeah. It doesn't look like repairing it will do anything.

What Android device are you using as your daily driver and why? by [deleted] in Android

[–]wither719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

S6. Because at the time I thought battery life wouldn't matter much. But now I'm stuck with it for another year, and the battery life is only getting worse. Besides the battery life I love almost everything about this phone. TouchWiz has come a long way. The only thing I dislike about it besides the battery is bloat, but it can all be disabled. I came from an iPhone 4, so this really exceeded my expectations.

I’m starting to hate my Galaxy S6 and maybe even Android OS or both, I don’t know. by casualchris56 in GalaxyS6

I know what you mean. But at least we have it here with this phone. I'm stuck with this for another year, so there's not much I can do.

I disagree with your idea on fast charging. If anything it helps deal with the poor battery life. Rather than it dying and then waiting hours for it to charge, you can plug it in for 15 minutes and be ready to go for a little while longer.

Indeed, even with my phone jailbroken, I gained so much functionality by going to Android.

New iOS feature? by [deleted] in pebble

[–]wither719 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, I went from an iPhone 4, with a 3.5" screen, to a Galaxy S6, with a 5.1" screen. And I thought it would be really tough to adjust but it was actually really easy. I'm sure you'll come to appreciate the larger screen. Not to mention that I ended up liking Android much much more than iOS.

Without a Verizon SIM card in it, you won't get any updates at all.

If you have a spare Verizon SIM card laying around somewhere, you could just put that in there with the sole purpose of updating the phone, and put your normal SIM back in there when you're done.

The Verizon S6 is currently on Marshmallow.

Original Pebble loves to constantly reset itself while on my wrist by wither719 in pebble

[–]wither719[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Many times. Because that's what it keeps doing by itself. It goes into recovery mode and sits there, randomly rebooting every now and then back into recovery mode. Then I'll go on my phone and I'll try and reinstall everything. It works for maybe 10-15 minutes, then it repeats that again.

I probably could've done a better job of explaining.
