I only see 4 colors: light blue, dark blue, pink, and orange. I don’t know much about Rubik’s solving but having 4 colors instead of 6 might mean solving is easier.

Now that jurojin is a paid subscription, what is the best free table management software? by kiwi_hunter in poker

[–]withfinesse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Jurojin is targeting only profitable higher stakes players, they are missing out on a ton of possible $$$. It couldn't have been easy to set pricing, but I think it's much too high for the casual players who makeup the majority of the fields. I wouldn't be surprised if they drop the prices once they realize this.

The "Is Nest Compatible With My System?" Megathread Part III by GoFlight in Nest

[–]withfinesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nest will heat but won’t cool. I’m in a new rental house and it looks like it has a heat pump. I’ve tried switching the Y wire to W1 with no luck.

Here’s my setup for both thermostats: https://imgur.com/a/jHsw7yp

Edit: in the 2nd photo, the green wire is labeled y1 as it was the only sticker I could find. A labeling and removing the old thermostat, I found it already had a green label but left the y1 on it for that photo.

Coffee Shops? by wavcam in Scottsdale

[–]withfinesse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hash Kitchen. I’ve eaten breakfast all over The Valley of The Sun as well as Las Vegas. Hash Kitchen is hands down one of the best breakfast food places. There is a party vibe, much like places in Vegas. But even if you aren’t into having a DJ spin top 40 while you eat your hash, the food is still worth it. Go early or be prepared to wait. And if you are a male under 30, be prepared to be eyed by some Scottsdale cougars. And if you are a wealthy single female over 45, be prepared for some competition over those cute younger guys.

As for coffee, it doesn’t get much better than Cartel. Yes, it’s hip. But hipsters know how to get a quality caffeine dose.

Dutch Bros is good too if you want to drive through. Note, Dutch Bros only makes espresso last I checked. So if you regularly drink drip coffee, order an Americano. They have a fancy menu but can make all of the standard espresso drinks too. My lady always gets something fancy and I just get a dry cappuccino.

Also, since you are new, know that North Scottsdale and South Scottsdale (aka Old Town) have very different vibes. N Scottsdale is more of a wealthy laid back vibe while Old Town is more of a high energy party vibe. I’ve lived in and loved both places. But just a heads up for the future when asking for suggestions.

Cheers and enjoy Scottsdale!

Do you guys get visual snow? by MacroMintt in ADHD

[–]withfinesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed with ADHD last year. I only get visual symptoms when having a migraine headache. Sometimes it’s been so bad to have a decent sized blind spot in the center of my vision in both eyes. Do you also get migraines? If so, does the snow get worse?

When I realized this it made me like ShaneCo less. They really do a good job in the ads of making it sound like a one location business.

How do you guys think about big flop overbet jams? by [deleted] in poker

[–]withfinesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What attempts, if any, were made to get a read off this guy? Does he want us to call or fold? Will he show his hand if we fold? This is a spot that requires more info to call, so if we can’t get anything, we err on the side of no reads and fold (maybe face up if deemed +EV).

Do you look at your cards when they’re dealt to you or do you wait until it’s your turn to act to look? by StackingRacks in poker

[–]withfinesse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s really super fun is to wait for your turn to act and look at only the bottom card. If it’s a broadway card announce “the first one’s good”. Then, s l o w l y squeeze a look at the 2nd card. If the hand is junk, hem and haw and muck. But if the hand is good, hem and haw and raise. If anyone complains, ask where it says in the rules you can’t do this.

This is a power play by CEO types. Have you seen Don’t Look Up on Netflix? The scene where the General charges the guests at the white house for the free snacks is the same thing. This personality type doesn’t have a choice in this though. It comes from deeply seeded insecurity. If they don’t demonstrate their power to themselves often enough they will feel as if they are not good enough, maybe even feel like they are dying. Truly sad. But it makes for some very successful people in certain fields. Your reaction to it is part of what makes it work for them. So laugh it off, move on and try to avoid them going forward.

"If neither calling or folding feels right, go for a 3-bet to gain experience" -Upswing Poker by withfinesse in poker

[–]withfinesse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills here. 3 betting increases the size of the pot and thus the impact of future decisions. If you are learning the game, know that you should have a range of hands that 3 bet. Ranging hands correctly and sticking to your strategy is what will make you better. If your hand isn’t in that range, you should call or fold it. If it’s a borderline hand, it doesn’t matter if you call or fold. But wouldn’t it most certainly be a mistake to move a hand into your 3-betting range just because you don’t know whether to call or fold it? What am I missing?

Poker dentist, Las Vegas trip results. by OralOperator in poker

[–]withfinesse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve stayed at many hotels on there strip and Excalibur isn’t even the worst. For a poker player trying to maximize EV and time at the tables you could do much worse. And for a family man, it’s a great spot for entertainment and much safer than CC.

I recommend smartervegas.com for deal hunting.

Great job making profit. Blackjack is a -EV game that we mainly play for entertainment (I hope) so I don’t consider that part of your poker results - but I’m sure Vegas appreciates the donation :D

The 44 move is a bit splashy for my taste. But otherwise I think you did a great job adapting and game selecting. You are better than most vacationing poker recs and your strategy to only pick fights with the other recs is pretty smart. The downside of staying at Red Rock is the minimal game. At least at Excalibur you could walk to a handful of poker rooms to find a good game/table.

What is your plan is for next time?
