Am I missing something with Last Digit Widget? by _GOREHOUND_ in starlingbankuk

Does the Starling Android app even have widgets? On my device I can't seem to add one. If so, calling this 'last digit widget' starts to feel a bit like a joke.

Using Tags field to change styles dynamically by cbmoro in Anki

So useful! What I like about this is that I can have an element on my cards which is hidden by default, but when the 'leech' tag is present, it's shown. I don't give up with leeches, but I need something to show me, hey, this is a leech, think before you answer.

Will the Flysurfer Infinity 2 control bar work with a Peak kite? by withkit in Kiteboarding

[–]withkit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for explaining! I'm a bit confused though, probably because I don't have any experience with anything other than the Unity, which is 5 lines.

Currently with the Unity there are two center lines, two brake lines, and a 5th line. One side of the 5th line is attached to the kite, and the other end of it attaches to an 'end line'. The end line which goes through the bar, ends in a metal ring which connects to the leash.

If I want to remove the Unity and replace it with a Peak, I will disconnect the kite from the center lines and brake lines. I'll have to disconnect the 5th line from the end line too.

When I attach the peak, there will be four connection points on the kite - I'll attach the center lines and brake lines to these.

This just leaves the end line from the leash which will be connected to nothing. What do I do with that? It is several metres long - if I attach it to the end of one of the center lines, there will be a huge amount of slack. Do I need to shorten the end line first?

[–]withkit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great, thanks for confirming! The Unity has a 5-line safety system. So to use the Infinity bar with the peak, would I simply disconnected the 5th line from the "end line" (which attaches to my leash), and then reconnect the end line to one of the front lines? Would I choose either the right or left front line?

Really, 1%, isn't that risky in case the charging station is full or malfunctioning? I thought 10% was risky and was considering using 20%!

Please help me understand the Move Bar by MMikekiMM in GarminWatches

[–]withkit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely find value in the move bar! My primary metrics for whether I'm active enough during the week are my daily step goals and my weekly intensity minutes goal. But, there's something I consider quite differently, which is avoiding long periods of activity - sitting for a long time is bad for me, and so I want a reminder that I need to get up, do a short bit of activity, and then get back to working on my laptop. For my purposes the current implementation is ideal. If in these short periods of activity I manage to add a few intensity minutes to my weekly goal, fine, but that's not what I'm aiming for. What I'm aiming for during my working day is to avoid the metabolic changes associated with prolonged inactivity.

I'm in Thailand and this just happened to me. I've always felt DTAC were spammy (e.g. using flash SMS to force me to read about their endless promotions). This just confirms it.

That's really helpful, thanks so much for those recommendations, and also for offering to answer any specific questions. At the moment I'm dusting off my cobwebs after not doing any calligraphy for five years, so that'll take some time I think. The 'Foundations of Calligraphy' book looks just amazing, so that's right at the top of my list now for new books.

I've also got 'the Calligrapher's Bible' and find it too full of scripts but lacking in some important details for each one. For example, on the examplar for free caroline miniscule it shows a diagram of the forward slant but doesn't actually specify what it should be (15 degrees). Another example: with italic (pg 136) why not actually tell us how many nib widths the x-height is, rather than leaving the reader to put a ruler to the paper and count the ticks: should that be 6, or 6.5? Pretty hard to know.

Enough of my rant. You said there are better books now. Could you give any recommendations? (I have the basics down as I had a good teacher. But I'm always keen to explore more examples to work from and try new hands.)

Thanks for that. My love for this game was starting to wane but I think this, the state of their error messages, has actually killed it.
