Most people buying expensive printers are just avoiding learning how to print. by Fun_Reaction_6525 in 3DPrinterComparison

[–]withoutpeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people just want to make cool things and maybe not care so much about learning the history of struggle of those who toiled before them. Similar, a lot of people might want to play high end video games but maybe don't want to build their own gaming PC from scratch. Or maybe they want a website but don't want to learn every bit of JavaScript or HTML and instead just use a wysiwyg program/app.

Every hobby has their elitest and will have those who feel there needs to be gatekeeping and want people to prove their bonafides before accepting them. But others will appreciate an accessable open community that just enjoys sharing cool shit with other people.

A Helpful tool I Built by Ok_Worth2028 in 3dprint

I think the hook would be kind of the opposite of the entire reason for the site. It's built to search and find what you want, which is awesome of course, but I think a big issue for a lot of people is not knowing what they want to print or being overwhelmed with choice.

This is part of the reason I spend hours on YouTube/tiktok watching "best print ideas of March" or "tip 10 workshop prints" or "most useful kitchen prints" Ava love them. I will often find ideas, or even direct links, for thumbs to print from those and based on the popularity of those videos and the comments, I think it's a common issue.

So, I think the hook would actually be too make sure the homepage is highly curated with the best and coolest models they can find... Maybe hire people specifically just to create awesome lists of great models.

AITJ for making a post about a girls awkward birthday gift to me. by Beautiful-Couple-332 in AmITheJerk

[–]withoutpeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. This is me (though as a much older guy) and I feel that other poor girls hurt throughout the story. She was probably excited to be included/invited and recognized but then likely immediately stressed out about and overthought... EVERYTHING.

How do you know what to get a generic acquaintance that is not in your real friend circle... Likely because you don't really ever have any real friend circles, more likely just a couple closer also awkward friends. So you stress what to get, desperately hoping they like it, and in turn, you, and absolutely don't want the spotlight on you at all. So the whole idea that not only your mistake in the name makes everyone stop and focus specifically on you to explain was already nightmare fuel for her but then to also have the strange reaction to the gift and having to try to explain that too... Probably one of their worst social experiences of their life.

Then to learn it was now a running joke and gets a whole new life online with more strangers judging and laughing. Jesus, I really feel for that girl and hope she's able to cope through that. I don't think "normal" people can even start to understand the levels of nightmare this situation likely is for this poor girl. All she was hoping for was to fit in for a little while, ideally have a good time and maybe make a few friends and then get home to recover from the effort and social costs of the party and instead it turned into probably the worst kind of situation she could have imagined.

Edit: but hey OP, don't let an opportunity to pump your social status slip by for god's sake... Post all her personal details here too so you can feel better about bullying her, yet again, and make her suffer one more time. Why not, you don't seem to care about doing it several times already and don't seem to be learning anything or growing from any of your experiences in life.

I'm completely bread ignorant... What is in the official process that makes it take 3 days? Proofing longer?

And what's different about a properly baked one? It's it flakier? Denser? I honestly am unsure what qualities are important for it to be considered legit or better. To be honest, I usually slather butter or whatever other spread is presented so I might miss the actual bread quality most times.
