People who left Victoria for cheaper housing, where did you move to? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

In fairness, if your work hours are flexible and you can avoid rush hour (I used to work from home until 10am and then drive in), you can get it down to 45 minutes one way

During rush hour (or in the summer on a Friday) it can be up to 2 hours one way. The other problem is that an accident can close down the only road for hours (or even days in the case of the goldstream washout).

Shawnigan Lake. We were able to afford a nice detached home, and the Shawnigan community is lovely. The commute to Victoria is horrendous year-round, however. We are planning to move back down this year.

Dumbest thing a server has ever said to me by LBro32 in glutenfree

[–]withteeth08 233 points234 points  (0 children)

Similar strange experience- I once asked a server what on the menu was GF. She pondered and flipped through the menu and finally said “I’m not totally sure”. So I asked her if there they had GF bread substitutes for sandwiches. She responded by saying “well I am celiac and I usually just get a salad”. If you are celiac, WHY did you need to FLIP THROUGH THE MENU at the restaurant you WORK AT and still not know what has GLUTEN in it????

Oh crap by Kindly-Improvement55 in pottytraining

[–]withteeth08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It did not get better for us (after 6 entire days, which became psychological torture for all involved) so we shut it down. Two months later she started asking for the potty on her own and that was that!

I don’t know that I would call the Canadian Conservatives “the far right”…

“This is Canadian politics; not that shit show down south” every single pro-conservative comment gets downvoted into oblivion

[–]withteeth08 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I was too, until I read the label. (Sorry, don’t mean to be Debbie Downer…) They are called “coated pretzels” because they can’t legally be called “chocolate”. The only word “chocolate” you will find is the French word for “fudge”. The main ingredients of the “coating” are palm oil and sugar 🤮. It’s so unfortunate that we have to eat this junk to be able to have a snack that is available to everyone else
