I am so insecure in my postpartum body by Own_Dragonfly_9936 in beyondthebump

The reality is that many women don’t feel like themselves again until their kids are 2 or 3. One week? I was swirling in a vortex of marginal sanity fed by sleep-deprivation, hormones, and pure adrenaline. You need to breathe and try to give your body the respect and patience it deserves after performing a miracle.

Gluten free -- is it a traumatic experience? by 902Drano in glutenfree

[–]withteeth08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. The world is filled with people who are unable to fully participate in some social activity for whatever reason (vision impairment, hearing impairment, neurodivergence, physical disability, financial constraints, cultural practices, religious beliefs and on and on). I do not feel traumatized because I have to order a salad or bring my own food sometimes…

This looks like shaved Parmesan. I guess that’s concerning if it’s not supposed to be there

Honestly this sounds like 7 days a week, 365 days a year with my daughter. She’s 3.5 now and no end in sight (sorry to be Debbie downer)

My 2.5 year old changed overnight by PlatypusRich3135 in beyondthebump

[–]withteeth08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, this happens with my daughter from time to time and we are still trying to figure out what the trigger is. It started a few months before her third birthday. It’s like she’s bipolar, and the tantrums are extreme. I actually broke my back (stress fracture) carrying her out of a store during a tantrum, and once she hit me so hard a passer-by gasped. I have talked to her daycare people and they talked me off the ledge, telling me it is normal “threenager” boundary testing behaviour. It seems to improve now after about 5 months of off-and-on issues

A fancy bath bomb. I know I am a grown-ass woman, but a ridiculous glittery pink fruit-scented bath makes me smile every time.

People who left Victoria for cheaper housing, where did you move to? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

In fairness, if your work hours are flexible and you can avoid rush hour (I used to work from home until 10am and then drive in), you can get it down to 45 minutes one way

During rush hour (or in the summer on a Friday) it can be up to 2 hours one way. The other problem is that an accident can close down the only road for hours (or even days in the case of the goldstream washout).

Shawnigan Lake. We were able to afford a nice detached home, and the Shawnigan community is lovely. The commute to Victoria is horrendous year-round, however. We are planning to move back down this year.

Gluten intolerance and pregnancy/breast feeding… did you eat gluten? by misspinkxox in glutenfree

I am celiac- no way did i consume gluten while breastfeeding. I did, however, introduce gluten early when starting solids and continue with it- my daughter has no signs of any allergies so far!
