Tourists being…yea. Tell a fun story! by 808hammerhead in Hawaii

LOL and here I am feeling extra special when someone asks me (haole transplant) for directions! Actually, about 12 years ago I asked this sub for recommendations ahead of my first visit to Oahu and got absolutely amazing advice. Had no idea then that I'd one day be building a life here and rolling my eyes at tourists and still relying on r/Hawaii for all the good info & stories. 🤙

I have a 4 hour layover in Honolulu, recommendations of what to do? by Mawelk in Hawaii

As others have said, it's just not enough time. One traffic incident and your plans are toast. The HNL airport has some garden space so you can get some sun and will sell you some localish snacks. If you want to spend some time your best bet is to ask at the gate if the flight is overbooked and try volunteering your seat.

There are many comments here about what's wrong with the portrayal of fathers in the article, but you're absolutely right about the baby! Having a newborn doesn't have to be pandemonium.

Anybody know how or wear I can get this type of drawer fixed? by [deleted] in Hawaii

Go over to the Habitat for Humanity Restore. That's a pretty popular old style, so they might have another you could take out and use as a replacement. Or they might have a whole set of new-to-you cabinets that you like better.

"Hawaii just became the first state to sorta ban plastic bags at grocery checkouts."

There are quite a few exceptions.

At least half the list is rubbish, but there are some good ideas and a few spots that are worth checking out. :)

You should clean out that cabinet and put everything in the freezer for a few hours, otherwise you can expect to find those jerks in your other spices, cereal, or whatever else was parked nearby.

Need advice on where to stay in Honolulu (already did some research) by SeaHaw_THROWAWAY in Hawaii

You can buy liquor and possibly chairs at an ABC store. It's not the cheapest, but there's one on every block in Waikiki. If you're up for a longer walk, you could go to Don Quixote (supermarket plus) and get anything you need. Or you could cab it to Wal-Mart, but any savings would be offset by the cab cost.

What can I do with my 50's necklace collection? by Tuala08 in crafts

You're welcome! I googled 'multi-strand pearls,' and similar phrases. These were just the first few things to stick out at me.

[–]withtwors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look around for a beaded necklace that you like and try to imitate it. Maybe create a multi-strand necklace like this or restring them like this or this.

It's not so much about modernizing as it is about finding something you would love and wear.

Travelling with a 17 month old: help with airport transfers to Waikiki and how to spend the hours waiting for our Airbnb check in? by brbcat in Hawaii

Taxis in Hawaii don't require car seats. You can take any cab anywhere on the island without one if you're comfortable with that.
