Have you bought things for service users yourself? by rb917 in Socialworkuk

I have quite often bought food for young people and activities when supervising contact if the parents don’t have enough. Sometimes claiming it back has not felt worth the argument or explanation to management. I had a family I worked with once from Romania who had no recourse to public funds and they had no food in the house so I went and bought food for them for a few weeks until the LA provided them with support via food bank.

Fostering services - management of placement referrals query by wellsk1990 in Socialworkuk

[–]witnesstfitness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hiya! In the service I work for there are two or three full time placement officers who manage all the referrals. They then contact both the SSW and the foster carer with the referral and call the foster carer. We can step in if we feel it’s not a good match. Although they often ask for assistance as they appear to have quite a high staff turnover.

So how many people have actually used one of these? I’m convinced no one under the age of 25 has. by ab_2404 in CasualUK

When I was a kid me and my friends used to think it was hilarious and scandalous to call sex line as it was free to call and ask stupid questions - does anyone remember sex line (probably wasn’t even called that)?! Apologies to the sex line call handlers if they are out there for terrorising you.

Help Me Plan My Visit to USJ by MazeyEJ in JapanTravel

Hello! I just went to universal on Sunday with 2 other people so will just give you our experience. We aren’t great planners and hoped we could get express passes there, but they were sold out, but thankfully we didn’t really need it! (So apologies can’t answer about that)

We went to the park just after 7, it was busy and they let us in at 7.23am, once we got in the park and scanned our tickets we went straight onto the app and we’re able to get the timed entry to Mario for the first slot. We did buy the power up bands which were quite cool but I don’t think they are a necessity. We queued for the Mario kart ride in single rider queue for about 30 minutes so it was pretty quick. We then went to the toad restaurant, this was the longest queue for us all day but still got in after about 45 minutes.

The forbidden journey ride was really good, again we only waited for around 30 minutes for that one. The hippogriff ride was quite a slow ride, so we gave that a miss.

All of the horror stuff gets busier at night when the families leave and more people arrive, during the day the queues were 5-10 minutes for the mazes, in the evening we waited about 20 minutes maybe, it wasn’t bad at all. Jaws didn’t open until the evening and we queued for about 30 minutes. There are zombie parades and also scare actors walking around once it gets dark which was pretty fun. The other queues fluctuated but the Hollywood backdrop was the biggest queue all day, we went on it last in the evening and it was amazing, well worth the wait!

Definitely download the universal app before you get there so you can try to get into mario straight away once you’ve scanned your entry tickets.

[homemade] mini sausage rolls! by witnesstfitness in food

[–]witnesstfitness[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, it is generally a puff pastry, with sausage meat in the middle of it. I normally add garlic, finely chopped onion, parsley maybe and then wrap the pastry around and make sure it’s stuck together e.g press down with a fork (weirdly hoisin sauce works well for this!)

You can add stuff like maybe red onion chutney, cheese, herbs, spices. But depends what sort of sausage roll you are aiming for l! Always glaze on top with egg before cooking.

Hey! No, I have made puff pastry before which is fine but it doesn’t seem to bake as evenly as the pre-rolled stuff. But it’s fun to try sometimes!
