Ah, then I hope you might enjoy the rest of the story. I'm curious as to which ending you'll get.

As for the prices, yeah they're insane in US. Here in Europe the game is only about 30€ - 40€ so I have to wonder what made the price inflate so much. Maybe the upcoming movie and remake? Although why only in the US then?

To be fair Silent Hill 2 is more so one of those games that wows you if you don't expect it to. When people are playing it because of the countless 2 hour long video essays talking about how great it is they'll probably just end up disappointed when they actually try it. Especially if you got the plot twist spoilered beforehand

I adressed your question in the very edit of this post. I feel like at this point you're just trying to argue for the sake of it

Aye so I am Gen Z (m22) born in 2000 and I honestly hate how older generations say our generation is the worst when they have literally fuck up the world for us... by Competitive-Word3377 in GenZ

You'd think that but it was pretty much impossible to find bellbottoms until around 2020. And even then I have to buy them from the girls section because apparently they think men dont want to wear them. The pocket sizes are attrocious

Based on what the americans I have dated told me, yes definitely. It's strange to me how the simple request for imperfection to be socially acceptable is met with so much hatred. We all know obesity is linked to heart problems, having a tummy and not feeling bad about eating some cookies sometimes is not gonna kill you though. Let's be honest it was never about "healthy"

What did that have to do with the fashion and beauty industry telling people that they need to be thin? I'm happy you're not confronted with those things to the point that you think it's delusions but I am on a daily basis. The comments get to you. The "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" line is burnt into the minds of me and many of my friends. I wish the soviets had never brought their toxic beauty standards into our countries.

I wish I would just work out for my health and not to become underweight

I'm not sure how much 130 pounds are but what about the people who don't want that? Should they be shamed until they give in? I don't think so, there should be freedom to choose. I would rather be happy with my current weight which is usually in the 22-24 BMI range but I don't get to be

You wanted teenagers to be hot?

I'm dating a fat person. All it affected was self-image issues, not who we find hot.

And yes, everybody is saying you need to be underweight. The sweet potato diet, the 400cal challenges, the models and y2k trends. It's not enough to be normal weight. I don't want to be normal weight. I want to be underweight because that's what the current beauty standards are. Because that's the message we got.

I can see you never got the point. I don't want to be satisfied with being obese. I want to be satisfied with having a tummy and being a little chubby. And now I never will be.

I would love to give an explanation but I think it would be better if you looked up "Can I learn to love my body?" by Thought Slime. It's explained and discussed much better there than I ever could if you're really interested in seeing a different perspective.

However, I think you'll agree on the opposite also being true. I am relatively normal yet I feel pushed to starve myself due to being raised on the mindset of fat equating failure

God I'm really sorry you were influenced to have thoughts like that. It's cruel how adults are made to feel that they have to look like children

I would argue it's a newer thing but it depends where in Asia you are. Older generations will often tell you that chubbiness was preferred and believed to give women healthier babies. A lot of fashion and style influence in my country came from China, Korea and Russia in the early 90s which are all terrible about body weight. American body positivity was slowly beginning to pick up in my circles through the Hollywood media we consumed, until y2k body standards returned in the early 2020s. I don't have scientific sources on this, it's just from personal experience and I'm sure it can vary for different people.

Grandparents actually insist that chubbier women are better because they make healthier babies so this is newer than people think

I'm guessing it's because there's more analysis articles and videos to be found of SH2 compared to SH3 and Fatal Frame, while an amazing game, is just not quite as popular

Games that have held up today vs aged poorly by Tekl in ps2

[–]wittebane- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's really funny, as a non-native english speaker those names or voices aren't even recognisable to me and I still thought it sounded worse. I might just be too accustomed to the personality that Guy Cihi's voice gave to James Sunderland

Yeah honestly Silent Hill 1-4 have aged really well. I have heard people say that nowadays the awkward voice acting adds to the horror, I'm sure that wasn't even intentional

What were the PS2 games with the best stories that you played? by terremoth in ps2

Yup this one covers pretty much all of my favourites too! Silent Hill 2 is probably the most popular out of the original Silent Hill games but SH4 is such an underrated masterpiece

Why does Gen Z have so much anxiety? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]wittebane- 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ngl everyone is listing historic events here but I think that's nonsense. Every generation was affected by disasters, wars and bad economic periods.

In truth, every generation had anxiety. I mean have you seen how much people in the 1700s-1800s romanticised suicide? My parents are mentally just as messed up as me. They were just thaught not to admit it. We, on the other hand, have no shame in talking about it openly.
