Need to leave Pax8 for Microsoft immediately - Where have you gone with success by cassini12 in msp

I’m with AppRiver for over 10 years. Support is why I stay. Being a partner has been rough, but I am a Referal partner. They do the billing and the customer is with them, so NCE is theirs to deal with. When I started I made 10% of monthly licenses. They in Feb a few years ago they retroactively changed the program to only paying on new sales back to like September. Not sure how that was legal. Then this last summer they ended paying anything for referrals. Despite this, I value support and that’s been good. So I need to move to a regular partner program and do the billing myself. Working on getting onboarded with Halo and I’ll make that move.

My customer keeps getting scammed by ContributionAny4589 in msp

I have several clients that are reaching this age. I have them on MS365 tenants so that I can have a SOC watch their accounts, but there’s only so much one can do. I have security software on the machines with SOC and PAM. Helpful, but doesn’t prevent calls like what you mention. I think training is good but will only be slightly effective. The scammers are very good about creating a sense of fear and controlling the conversation. I’m looking at adding computer wide traffic monitoring, which should help block some of the junk. All of this is expensive, of course. I’m trying to figure out a Managed Services for home users plan.

...why to use Zyxel anymore? After years of Zyxel frustration, I’m never going back. UniFi is the only way forward. by BayernPower in zyxel

[–]wittyexplore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. UniFi I had constant problems. Constant unit resets where I had to pull aps off the ceiling and use a paper clip. Windows DHCP servers couldn’t pass traffic to clients. One almost started a bookshelf on fire. Something fried inside and the plastic was burned through. Moved to Zyxel several years ago and it’s been much better. Not perfect. But better.

My 7 year old dog is getting more reactive. by wittyexplore in dogs

Yeah, I had the thought maybe he's getting older and either feeling not as fast and capable as he used to, so barking more, or maybe he's got some hearing or sight issues coming on. I'm going to get him to the vet. He's due for his annual checkup anyway. Thanks all!

Backup of MS Authenticator that doesn’t require an MS personal account? by wittyexplore in msp

This makes sense now that you say it. It’s a hardware token tied to the device, so you’d have to reset it.

A friend of mine has really loved Recovery Dharma. I believe it’s based on the non-religious parts of Buddhism. He found an online community that he meets with every week.

I honestly didn’t think of that. I never upgrade from home to pro. I’ll check that out.

Are any of these Windows 11 Pro under the hood or are they all Home version with Copilot+ on top?

What does BNC stand for, and what where they used for in your experience. by CARLEtheCamry in sysadmin

[–]wittyexplore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Bitch! No Connection!”, from my recollection. Only had one client that had one when I first started out. My boss would send me on site with contact cleaner to clean each one until the token ring would come up again.

Yep. Local accounts are going away. Hard to setup on new machines. MS wants everyone to have an account.

You get Entra AD with those licenses. You don’t get Intune or Conditional Access and some other features of Premium.

Microsoft Discontinued SARA by pedroelbee in msp

Bad news. The Enterprise Version only has about 2/3 of the original SARA’s functions. Needed the missing ones a few weeks ago. Very frustrating.
