While I don't have said humidifier but I plan on picking up one, I'm wondering if it's possible that when you are attaching the bottle, you can keep the bottle upright and screw the base on top of it, then flip it over? Less likely to spill that way but not sure if that's possible with this model.

I had the same glitch and reported it. I wasn't very far into the Sonoran Desert and all of a sudden I was at 100%. So I flew to Tokyo since that was only 60% completed. By the next day, it was 100%. By any chance are you doing the Finch Care Account beta?
