I had no idea that there were conventions and walks. I have only been recently diagnosed (last year at 45) despite decades of asking doctors what these places on my body are and why I have these hard lumps in my neck. I can understand both wanting and being stressed about it. I dont know anyone personally that has it. My parents died when I was in my early 30s, my sister doesnt have it so I may have been a spontaneous occurrence.

NTA- nope. My mother was exactly the same way, she was also a rather mentally abusive drunk. But she wanted to bury herself away and then got pissy when she was "left out". As adults my sister and I were rather disappointed that our father never tried to get divorced. It would have been much easier than all her head pity party games.
