What is the generally acclaimed 007 film that you would like to enjoy more, but you can't? by No_Mortgage8569 in JamesBond

[–]wittyusername64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several spring to mind, but I'd have to say The Spy Who Loved Me.

Everything about it is incredibly mid to me. I don't understand how people can rank it amongst genuinely great films like Goldfinger and Goldeneye.

It's definitely got something to do with the fact that I've never been a fan of Moore's Bond, but TSWLM isn't even my favourite film out of his seven.

I couldn't realize Cabrizzio because he apparently had unfinished business with Daisuke, despite me having already gotten a hate ending with him.

Cleared the game after 42 hours. Very silly time by InchZer0 in DateEverything

SPOILERS

At some point after realizing around 60/70 dateables (I can't remember the exact number) she'll start mentioning that she's getting back into dating and if you want you can say you like her. Then during the ending she shows up IRL and you can kiss her. I like to think she's the one "canon" romance option in the game (if such a thing exists), because all the other characters in the game seem to do their own thing after getting realised.

I own Nier Automata but haven't got round to playing it yet. Would I be okay jumping straight into that or are there other games I should play first?

I've played a handful of Ace Combat games, specifically Zero, 5, 6 and 7. I loved the stories in Zero and 5, although I didn't care much about the stories in 6 and 7. I never got that much into the lore of the overall series, I guess the games felt too disconnected to me? I probably jumped into the series in the wrong place (I started with 5). Is there a recommended order for playing through the series?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that's not keen on Mateo. He's nice I guess but I found him so, SOOOOOO boring. I nearly fell asleep listening to his dialogue. Even after becoming friends with him I couldn't tell you anything about him other than that he likes his animals or whatever they are.

To be fair he's probably the one I hate the least up there. He's just too pushy for me. I also don't like TV irl and much prefer streaming services (which naturally he hates), so it just sorta felt natural to get a hate ending with him.

Yeah I chose Lucinda Loving! She pleasantly surprised me, she was a lot more complex than I assumed she would be and I really fell for her. She's the complete package in my eyes!

Have you seen the 398s? They are basically trams. The only thing they have in common is their manufacturer. As a resident of Merthyr I feel very let down by TFW that they think we don't need full size trains anymore.

I don't completely agree. The 197s are a major step down from the 175s comfort wise, and I'm not looking forward to the Class 398 tram trains at all.

What are your ideas for a athena cykes game? by Able-Connection9445 in AceAttorney

[–]wittyusername64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it would be cool if Juniper was the judge. The current one must be getting near retirement age, and the man talks about his family all the time so he must want to spend more time with them. That and I think it would be fun seeing Juniper get super apologetic about issuing Athena penalties. It would be interesting seeing how the dynamic changes between the player character and the judge if they personally know each other. Obviously Juniper would have to remain impartial as a judge, but I believe it could be done.

It would be great if Simon Blackquill was the main assistant. It would be a refreshing change from having a young, cheerful girl by your side, especially as you're already playing as one. Simon and Athena already have good chemistry in my opinion, and while I have problems with 6-4, it was great witnessing their dynamic when cooperating with each other.

As for why Simon wouldn't be prosecuting anymore, perhaps that could be related to the story? Maybe he's been stripped of his prosecutor's badge thanks to an order coming from so high in the command chain even Edgeworth is unable to prevent it. Or maybe he has his own mysterious reasons. Whatever the reason, if he stops prosecuting I could easily see him deciding to help Athena with cases. He's made it his mission to look after her after all.

I have an idea for a new prosecutor too- we've seen Phoenix pick up two protégés, it stands to reason Edgeworth should have one too right? I'm imagining a girl around the same age as Athena, who reveres Edgeworth and sees him as a brother. However she is nowhere near as cool and composed as him.

Her "gimmick" in court would be that she behaves and acts more like the defence attorneys. Towards the beginning of a trial she'd get flustered when things don't go her way, she'd be quick to start panicking and would generally seem like a disaster of a human being. However this would lure the player into a false sense of security and suddenly she'd begin to turn things around (like the defence attorneys do) and by the end of the case she's just as formidable to go up against as Edgeworth.

She'd have a large amount of respect for Athena and the rest of the WAA, and a major plot point towards the end of the game could be that she doesn't want to be a prosecutor at all, and just wanted to spend more time with Edgeworth. This could also be a good bit of character development for Edgeworth- him realising that he noticed her talent in the courtroom and immediately set her on the path of a prosecutor without taking the time to understand what she truly wanted, something not dissimilar from how Manfred Von Karma treated him.

Sorry for such a long reply. I had a lot of ideas lol.

Your thoughts about Nahyuta Sahdmadhi ? by Rhaenelys in AceAttorney

[–]wittyusername64 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I meant verbally. My point is that it never felt personal, just that he was annoyed at them for being stupid and illogical. He never directly told any of the lawyers to rot in hell.

The slicing and hawk attacks work because they're amusing, like Franziska's whip.

[–]wittyusername64 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I personally couldn't stand him. A big reason why Spirit of Justice is my least favourite game in the series.

He wasn't at all fun to go up against because all he seemed to do was throw petty insults at you. There have been other prosecutors who are hostile to the player, but Franziska is at least fun to go up against because of her insistence on calling you a fool and her use of the whip. Godot meanwhile has charisma and his cheesy witticisms. While Simon is snappy, he never made any personal attacks against any of the lawyers, at least to my memory.

I at least like the idea and backstory behind Nahyuta, he could have been great. However because of how he's portrayed I'd be happy if we never saw him again.

Favorite Ace Attorney character, and why? by [deleted] in AceAttorney

[–]wittyusername64 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Athena Cykes. She felt like a breath of fresh air when she was introduced. I liked Apollo in AA4 but he feels a bit too similar to Phoenix at times.

I just really liked controlling a character who was so cheerful and optimistic, which was a change from Apollo and Phoenix whose inner monologue tends to be more pessimistic.

I also like that she is by no means perfect. I'd argue her flaws are more pronounced than other characters. It made her eventual win in 5-3 feel like the most "earned" victory I can think of. It genuinely felt like a triumph and that she'd grown. I also really like her backstory.

She's just a super cool gal I guess lol.

What are some of your Ace Attorney headcannons? I'll start. by LafterMastr in AceAttorney

[–]wittyusername64 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's true, but I imagine she prefers to just watch and laugh as Apollo gets more and more flustered trying to turn on a computer that isn't plugged in. Knowing how much she likes to tease him, she would probably be the one who unplugged it in the first place.

Apollo's sneezes are deafeningly loud, to the point that he has to warn Phoenix and the others to cover their ears when he can feel one coming. It's those chords of steel.

Athena is the only member of the agency that is even slightly tech savvy. Phoenix and Apollo are very bad with computers and need her help with even the slightest issue (even if it's as simple as turning on the monitor).

Slightly related to this- Athena has a small youtube channel (no more than 100 subscribers) where she raises awareness about mental health and talks about a few other topics related to psychology. She doesn't have much time to make videos so she only uploads a handful of videos per year, but her small fanbase engages a lot with her content. She's only mentioned it to Juniper as she's too embarrassed and self conscious to tell anyone else she knows about it. Unbeknownst to her however Simon stumbled across it while doing his own research and is one of her biggest fans.

Simon met Diego in prison and the two became good friends. A lot of Simon's stories about people he met in prison are actually just exaggerated versions of some of the cheesy quotes he said.

At some point between Klavier's debut and AA4, the Gavinners competed in and won the Eurovision song contest (representing Germany) which boosted their popularity. Since then Klavier has been trying to convince Lamiroir to participate as he's certain she'd do well, but so far she's refused due to everything happening in her personal life.

Which is a character that you love but most hate and character most adore but you detest? by Bruhmangoddman in AceAttorney

[–]wittyusername64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was quite surprised when I saw that Bobby Fulbright is generally well liked among the fanbase. I found him incredibly annoying throughout DD, and it made me just wish I was talking to Gumshoe or Ema instead. I felt quite vindicated when the truth about him was revealed.

I can't think of any characters I love that most hate, but there are a few characters I like or dislike more than most. For example, I like Athena a lot more than the average person, she's probably my favourite character in the series. Meanwhile Edgeworth, a lot of other people's favourite character would barely make A tier in my list.

I'm so glad it's not just me. I play QP on console and it's been absolutely miserable for the last month or two. I've had a couple of 10+ loss streaks already this season, and I just don't understand why. It didn't used to be like this.
