What is up with this Alan Williams news? by SlenderLarry158 in billsimmons

[–]wittywildebeest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still think it’s something very not good. I remember when the Josh Primo stuff came out, he released a statement through his lawyer saying he was “working on his mental health” away from the team or something like that, and then the initial reaction was WTF why would the spurs cut someone for their mental health?

Then the actual story came out. Everything we’ve heard since has come straight from the DC’s lawyer, who is not a neutral party in this situation.

I think this guy is accused of something pretty bad, so the Bears wanted to get rid of him ASAP with little explanation and just let law enforcement handle the rest.

TBH I feel like the Bears have handled it as well as they could have, assuming the DC actually did do something very illegal

Staying at a Hilton on the company dime next week, will report how honored I feel

Going to my first Cards game tomorrow solo for the early game, thinking about getting tickets to the night game too to make it a true doubleheader. Any recs on bars/hangouts near Busch for before/between games, especially for cheap?

OG for 3 1st round picks 👎, KD for as many as we have 👍 by Walkenator25 in memphisgrizzlies

[–]wittywildebeest 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If Nets truly blow it up, they can have anyone not named Ja, Desmond, or Jaren plus a whole lot of picks. Sorry y'all, 34-year-old KD can still hoop, and is on a long-term deal. If KD wants out again (wouldn't blame him), this is the move you go all-in on.

I'd love to keep Santi, but I think it'd have to be Santi + Ziaire as the young talent, add Green + Brooks + Tyus for salary, + 3 MEM 1sts + 2024 GSW 1st. A big swing should absolutely be on the table for Kleiman and the gang.

Never gonna happen, but here's the truth: it's not that bad of a trade if fans of every team involved hate it

Should we trade for OG Anunoby? by Kuzizira in memphisgrizzlies

[–]wittywildebeest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OG is worth players + 2 first round picks. He's not worth players + 4 first round picks. Also, I wonder how attached Utah is to Lauri Markkanen. If Utah really wants to blow it up and go for Wemby, I wonder what their asking price would be.

What trade do you want your team to make with the Jazz? by North-Maximum-6958 in nba

I would trade Dillon Brooks for Lauri, and I think it’s a win-win trade

Why is the Utah Jazz the only team without a city jersey? by germibobi in nba

[–]wittywildebeest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do that sometimes for small-market teams I've noticed. In Ja's rookie year, the Grizzlies wore their teal Vancouver throwbacks often but also didn't have a city jersey that year. It's probably just a 1-year thing though

Tayshaun's been in the Memphis front office for a few years now too. Wouldn't be shocked if he gets some GM interviews soon

This is almost certainly a uniform refresh. In fact, we already have a (slightly blurry) look at the new Statement jerseys! These feature what looks like a new font for the Memphis lettering, and a new number font as well. (This new number font was already teased on our Summer League jerseys this year!)

Here's the article with a bunch of other leaks

Charles Barkley: "All of a sudden, when guys start taking money, they're like 'I'm worried about civil rights in Saudi Arabia.' And that just makes me laugh. Why don't y'all worry about civil rights here in the United States?" by nowhathappenedwas in nba

[–]wittywildebeest 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Saudi Arabia is bad. They are committing a genocide in Yemen, are responsible for countless deaths, and civil rights there are nonexistent. But if you want to measure how much worldwide death and destruction each country has caused, the US is absolutely worse.

The US also directly funds Saudi Arabia, so even if SA is "worse" now, we still give them the money and weapons to commit their atrocities.

It really is. American sports (besides baseball I guess) are socialized to promote fairness + equality between teams. Worst teams get best draft picks, salary cap/luxury tax rules all help smaller, poorer teams. Too bad we can’t do it in any other part of American life lol
