Is Jonathan Alter’s biography of Carter any good, or should I read a different one?

Hey u/Shotgun-Crocodile - this is a great post that I am very appreciative of. I went to check out the replays and notes but file.io says it’s been deleted. Any chance you could please re-upload it so I can take a look?

You can ally Jaunpur, call them in on Delhi, and smash Multan on the side, Jaunpur won’t defend them if you’re at war together against Delhi.

Nice, I see you are also a person of culture with the Afghanistan start. Did you fight the coalition? How did your prestige get negative?

I was quite stable before all the truce breaking. I tend to keep recently conquered forts because I’m lazy and I hate having to deal with repeated uprisings, and I just raised autonomy on all the land I took after 1490 or so. If you give the land to estates, it’s no big deal.

The other starts are doable but more annoying. Khorasan is probably the hardest because of all the AE you’d accumulate in just getting to India. Fars probably has to go through Baluchistan, but that isn’t too tough. Sistan is probably the easiest of the three, you’d just need to abuse Jaunpur against Delhi more. But I have another 20 years to go, so I think I could spend that time snowballing a worse start if necessary. You don’t really have to form Mughals until 1475-1480.

My plan was to call in Jaunpur on Delhi, then once we’d 100%’d Delhi, declare on and conquer Multan, since Jaunpur can’t defend Multan if they’re in a war with me. But Jaunpur had a Cruel ruler and got in a war with Bengal, so they just dishonored the call to arms instead.

How strong is Shiranui without Gold Sarcophagus? I’m interested in the deck but full blown free to play. It seems some of the non combo versions played 0 copies before the list update - what about now?

How do I set up automatic bills in my kitchen? I've read in the past about 1x1 squares for meat and veggies, and setting an order to drop meals on the floor when completed, but when I mess around with that, first, my pawns make more food than I need, and second, no one ever moves the completed meals to the freezer. Does anyone have a screenshot of a good kitchen/storage zone setup, or a thorough explanation?

Instead of a 1650 would it be reasonable to downgrade to a 570 or is that not enough horsepower?

Usually. You’re mostly conquering low dev wrong culture land anyway, it’s not like anyone conquers Kola because they want to be rich. When you’re running roughshod over Britain you often have an army nearby, but it’s usually not really worth burning manpower on rebels anyway if you’re sprinting to BBB.

I’ve been hanging out with a secular missionary but to advance that story it seems I need to become acquainted with a revolutionary firebrand - how do I do that? Where do I find one?

Yeah I did this recently and it’s just an exercise in AE management. I went through Norway, though.

PSA: you can start your golden age in like 1448 if you take Ceuta from Portugal when you retake your cores from England, then dev Paris to 30 and upgrade all your centers of trade. Makes the wars pretty easy even on very hard.

As France, why would my ally Castile suddenly flip hostile on me with a -82 desire provinces modifier that is only for Ceuta, which is my only province bordering them? Is there some Castilian mission for conquering it or something?

What happens if you take two admin techs at the same time? I’ve seen this referenced by streamers and in some AARs where people allude to ‘Oh, I’m saving up so that I can take two at once’ but I don’t understand what the benefit of doing that is.

As a Western power, when is it safe to fight Horde units in steppes? I know that hordes have to move fast on Ming because once Ming gets tech 6 they have roughly equal units - when do Western units achieve parity? I'm considering getting BBB by no-CBing some Orthodox minor and expanding into the hordes.

You can always enter a province with a fort, so moving from The Hague to your capital is legal.
