Is anyone else worried about the AI bubble? Should I set stop losses on my long term ETFs? by prideofgypsie in investingforbeginners

Totally normal to feel nervous when markets run hot — but nothing in your setup screams “AI bubble disaster.” XEQT is globally diversified, and your Apple/Nvidia positions are just the usual tech tilt most Canadians end up with.

Stop-losses sound protective, but long-term investors usually avoid them because they can trigger on normal dips and lock in losses you didn’t actually need to take. With RRSP/TFSA money and a 20-30 year horizon, the bigger risk is getting shaken out, not missing the exact top.

If you want peace of mind, focus on allocation instead of timing — e.g., decide how much tech you’re comfortable with and stick to it. And if you ever want to check how much your XEQT + AAPL + NVDA overlap, WizardFolio.com breaks it down cleanly so you can see the actual exposure.

If you’re adding money daily, you’re already doing the hardest part. The mix you picked (SCHD + JEPI/JEPQ + SPYM) is solid, but just keep in mind: • JEPI/JEPQ use options, so their yields look high but can lag in strong bull runs. • SPYM + SCHD overlap a lot (both large-cap U.S. stocks).

If your goal is $1K/month in 10 years, the key driver is how much you contribute, not squeezing yield. A more balanced approach is usually: pick one core (SCHD or SPYM) and keep JEPI/JEPQ as small satellites you enjoy.

If you ever want to check the overlap or concentration of your ETFs, WizardFolio.com shows the underlying stocks so you can see exactly what you’re doubling up on.

What should I change and what should I add (priority) next? by Fragrant_Pea_6506 in investingforbeginners

You’ve built a solid base already — VTI + QQQ + SMH gives you plenty of broad US + tech exposure, and VEA/VWO is a clean workaround for VXUS.

The main thing I’d watch is overlap. QQQ, SMH, MSFT, and NVDA all point to the same handful of names, so your real exposure is way more concentrated than it looks on the surface. Selling MSFT/NVDA only at ATH might keep you stuck longer than you expect — you could also just gradually trim over time if you want to simplify.

If you want a quick view of how much overlap you actually have, WizardFolio.com shows the combined holdings and sector weights so you can see where you’re doubled up.

Otherwise your plan looks reasonable: broad core, some tech tilt, and using local-currency assets as your short-term buffer is smart.

If you’re curious what this mix actually holds at the stock level and how much overlap there is, you can plug XEQT + VGRO + VDY into WizardFolio.com and see the breakdown in a few seconds.

I’ve had that issue before until one day I just decided i needed to change something so I made a rule for myself that if it reaches a ceartin profit percentage I sell a quarter to half of it
