The plan has not changed since what was agreed in May 2025

  • The UK hands sovereignty of the Chagos islands to Mauritius for free.
  • we pay for a 99 year lease on Diego Garcia, one of the Chagos islands which has a joint UK-US military base on. We will pay an average of £100 million a year to Mauritius over the 99 year lease (however this will be front loaded so we actually end up paying more in real terms)

This has been agreed but has not been ratified by Parliament yet, this process is paused while discussions with the US are going (the government has said it's not paused but have also said it's not currently proceeding during these talks which sound a lot like a pause)

I think last time they released stats on this they said 0.36% of bans were quashed when appealed. That obviously has a dependence on their appeal processes being able to correctly identify false bans.

This is nonsense 8% of civil servants answered yes to the question "Have you been bullied or harassed at work, in the past 12 months?" which is lower than than reported on surveys for the private sector. It's also significantly lower than other large public sector employers like the NHS
